The Walt Disney Company may have a truly solid hit on their hands this summer, though some worry that the less of vulgarity in the trailer could prove a problem for children in love with X-Men.

This article has censored profanities related to the movie trailer and its reaction. However, due to the nature of the R-rated film, reader discretion is advised for some of the quotes.

If you thought hearing Wolverine drop the f-bomb in a cameo years ago was an edgy moment in comic book movie history, you ain’t seen nothing yet. The full trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine has gone from a CinemaCon exclusive to now public availability. Let’s just say the profanities are aplenty. On top of that, references to drug usage and connecting drug lingo with Disney animated princess movies are both present. And while that may be hilarious to teenagers and a vast number of adults, some are worried that Deadpool and Wolverine could prove to be a tricky, sticky situation for families. This is clearly not a movie aimed at nine-year-olds… and yet those same kiddos LOVE Wolverine. So this might be a hard one for children to understand why it’s off limits.

All of that said, there is clearly a major market for this movie. Upon the trailer’s arrival on the Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) YouTube account, Deadpool and Wolverine managed to reach over two million views in a single hour. However, because of the way YouTube works, it’s likely it surpassed four million (or more) views in that first hour as public viewership tallies tend to lag significantly in the first twenty-four hours. Not only that, but the like-to-dislike ratio for the movie is superb. As of publication, the video has 324,000 likes to only 1,600 dislikes. And it must be said as well that this sort of engagement is tremendous.

So that’s two very different dynamics that are currently in play… and both of them really do matter. On the one hand, this is generating tremendous excitement and enthusiasm. On the other hand, parents have legitimate concerns about what one of their child’s favorite heroes might be doing and/or saying in videos that will one day reach their kid on the playground.

Some of the biggest reactions to this trailer so far include comments from the YouTube account, RaytheWiseman, who says: “Unless you wanna take a deep breath through your f***ing forehead” is now my favorite Deadpool line.” Another account with thousands of likes responded: “Whiskey d*** of the claws, pretty common among wolverines above 40″ is one of the best deadpool lines ever.”

For Disney and Marvel Studios, they should be thrilled with the positive reaction of the broad market regarding the trailer and its reception. This bodes very well for the movie’s box office — even as it attempts to release in a less-than-ideal late July and with a hard R rating. The celebrity buzz around Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman having fun together in this flick is at levels not seen since a trio of Spider-Men joined forces in No Way Home. But unlike that webslinging adventure, this is one movie that probably won’t have small children in the audience. How that impacts the full potential has yet to be seen.

Oh… and we’re calling it now. China is out. There’s no way this will be allowed in the Middle Kingdom or the Middle East. But that’s just our speculation. Strong… speculation.

People hoping this will redeem the MCU are in for a nasty surprise. Deadpool 2 was already woke garbage and this will be even worse.

I’m not going to say that I don’t see the appeal of Deadpool because I know there’s a market for that sort of prepubescent vulgar humor that is labeled as mature. But I have zero interest in the character, no matter how well he’s portrayed. He reminds me of that annoying friend of a friend that you just don’t like even if everyone else thinks he’s the life of the party.

I do, however, really like Hugh Jackman, especially as a grizzled Wolverine. So I’m a bit torn here.
