Hank Hill and all his steak-eating, propane-loving, conspiracy-turned-reality-believing buddies are coming to Hulu. And, yet again, it’s another win for WDW Pro and That Park Place on rumors coming true.
In August of 2022, WDW Pro reported that talks between Mike Judge and Disney had heated up in regards to Hank Hill. On top of that, he provided information on what the pitch was for the show’s return. Note, although that pitch may have succeeded, we all know that pitches and pilots can often change from conceptualization to the point the show makes it on air.
Now, it’s coming true. Verifying what Pro announced in a rather Arlen-esque voice three weeks ago on the WDW Pro YouTube Channel, Hank Hill is coming to Hulu.
According to Lynette Rice at Deadline:
Hulu is laying out the welcome mat for the Hill family: the streamer is reviving King of the Hill from 20th Television Animation, with co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels set to return, as well as the beloved former cast.
Judge will reprise his role as Hank Hill, while Kathy Najimy will be back as his wife Peggy, Stephen Root as Bill, Pamela Adlon as Bobby Hill, Johnny Hardwick as Dale and Lauren Tom as Minh. The reboot has been in the works since the 2017 San Francisco Sketchfest, where Judge and Daniels reconnected with the cast and celebrated the 20th anniversary of the old Fox animated show.
Note that if Pamela Adlon returns as Bobby Hill, and if the rumors are true that the timeframe has been moved forward years, we’re likely to see Adlon’s voice pitched down digitally to have an adult, male Bobby voice. It’s like a reverse South Park situation, and it may make it all the funnier. Will he still go by Bobby? Or will he have switched his name to Bob or Bo, only to have Hank and Peggy still call him Bobby Hill?
According to a source connected with Pro, we relayed the following information half-a-year-ago:
According to a source familiar with DMED proceedings, there may be a new deal forthcoming that will have Hank Hill and the gang appearing on a Disney+ or Hulu exclusive show called “Kings of the Hill.” Again, according to the source, the show from Mike Judge would have Hank Hill and Bobby Hill struggling with a father-son relationship as Bobby is navigating the world… not always in the way Hank thinks is best. According to the source, the pitch that Disney and Bandera Entertainment are looking at is a potential pilot that would have Bobby Hill marrying Connie Souphanousinphone, much to her father’s disapproval. But with her father a now wealthy individual, Bobby and Connie would move into the vacated home next to Bobby’s parents with Bobby apprehensive about being under the watchful eye of his father.
Knowing how long it takes for animation to be completed, don’t look for King of the Hill (or “Kings of the Hill”) to be on small screens until late 2024 at the earliest. Frankly, we can’t wait.
