We already knew there was trepidation with Marvel’s late-summer film, The Marvels. The mostly-female superhero flick had been scheduled for the tail end of July, not a time big movies often debut. Now it’s worse.

The magic of Marvel is potentially fading. With Antman and the Wasp Quantumania being ravaged in reviews, Marvel is scrambling to postpone and delay future movies and Disney+ shows. Now, they’re moving The Marvels to a truly awful time for box office potential. According to Variety, The Marvels will debut in early November, only one week before Trolls 3 and two weeks before Wish. This is widely seen as a terrible opening window because films releasing in early November have completed their initial burst of early viewership before the Thanksgiving Weekend lift that can greatly help movies make a profit.
Previously dated for July 28, 2023, Marvels Studios released a teaser poster featuring Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel with the news that the film, from director Nia DaCosta, will now hit theaters on November 10.
Disney’s “Haunted Mansion,” directed by Justin Simien, now slides into the July slot, from its previously announced August 11 release date.

In other words, this is not a good day for Marvel and Kevin Feige. And for those wondering if Disney really was in the sort of hurt we have discussed for a year-or-so, here’s your proof. Don’t get all excited that Igre will swoop and fix all of this though — nearly everything you’re seeing was all greenlit under Iger. Chapek was only there for less-than-a-year.

Thor: The Dark World, Doctor Strange, and Thor Ragnarok all opened in early November and made a profit. As usual, your bias trumps any attempt at legitimate reporting.
A train derailed at Marvel and now it is clean up time. My sincere hope is the Multiverse plans are canceled or cut short. I’d like to see Marvel rework the Midnight Suns to include one more solo outing with Doctor Strange, introduce Blade in a solo feature and do the same with Ghostrider and Moon Knight. I’d like Marvel to drop the Mackie Cap film and return him to Falcon. I’d like for Marvel to pull the trigger on a solo War Machine movie. I’d to see Marvel approach the X-men from the stand point that professor X is getting old and he has been using his powers and X-men for decades erase knowledge and information about Mutants but the snap allowed some hints at X-men in the world behind the scenes. I’d like to see Marvel get back Chris Evans back to do a limited Captain America and Howling Commandos series that leads into a movie that explains why Agent Carter has a photo of Kennedy in her office. I’d like Disney to lite a fire under Ryan Reynolds and bring Deadpool 3 to market sooner. Most of all I’d like Disney to remove the Hydra from Marvel. It’s all got to go.
Black Panther Wakanda was released on November 10, 2022. I’m sure they want the same results with virtually no competition for The Marvels. I don’t think Trolls 3 is really competitive that could knock The Marvels from their number one position. No one knows much about Wish, but it could be a woke disaster.
