It’s as if every fiber of their being is determined to drive families away from seeing The Little Mermaid. While Mario excels, the Mermaid seeks to alienate all.
Is everyone ready to be called all sorts of horrible names if The Little Mermaid remake underperforms? Oh, it’s coming if that happens alright. And the only reason it might underperform is because the crazies at Disney have decided going all in on racial issues, sexual aggression topics, maligning the original, and more, are the best ways to really get mommies and daughters into theaters.
But even I didn’t expect us to also drag drag into it.
“There’s a drag queen that lives in me,” McCarthy told EWin an interview. “I’m always right on the verge of going full-time with her… To keep the humor and the sadness and the edginess to Ursula is everything I want in a character — and frankly, everything I want in a drag queen.”
Alan Menken confirmed to the publication that the animated character was inspired by drag queen Divine.

Yes, The Little Mermaid’s villain is not only being played via Melissa McCarthy channeling her inner drag queen (whatever that means), but now Alan Menken is also confirming that the original Ursula design was based on drag. You’ve gotta love watching them burn the house down.
On Wednesday I’ll have a video covering all of this, plus information from an insider regarding what Disney is up to with changing the song lyrics. You won’t believe how ridiculous they have become. Then again, maybe you just might.

You’re just now realizing that?
It’s the marketing of a movie for little girls that is curious.
…Now is NOT the best time to comment on Ursula being based on the drag star of many a John Waters film, Disney!
God it’s like they’re doing EVERYTHING to scare audiences away and bring their ongoing year of hell on themselves.
Hahaha oh my word, let’s see where that thumbs up/downvote ratio on YouTube goes now…
Any word on how the movie is tracking to do? My conservative friends are split about how well this one will do, with a heavy “nostalgia” appeal.
