The CinemaScore is not the only audience metric that is in the gutter. On IMDb, the film has an atrocious 3.8 out of 10. Over 40% of all reviewers gave the film a 1 out of 10.

On top of its disastrous CinemaScore, the film also had a poor opening night. According to The-Numbers it only grossed $6.05 million. That’s barely better than Morbius, which grossed $5.7 million back in 2022. If you adjust that for inflation it comes to $6.01 million.
The Marvels’ Thursday preview night did only $6.6 million back in November.

It’s highly likely the film is going to flop. The film has an estimated production budget of $80 million, which means it needs to make at minimum $200 million to break even in order to cover the split that theaters take from the box office grosses as well as the film’s marketing’s budget.
For comparison, Morbius only grossed $162.7 million in its entire run at the global box office. The Marvels did not even surpass the $200 million mark, it topped out at $199 million.
