Pop culture critic Gary Buechler, the host of the Nerdrotic channel, shredded Hollywood executives and their shill allies following a year of disastrous superhero films and TV shows.

During a recent video essay on his Nerdrotic channel titled “Marvel Commits Mary Sue-icide – Fans to Blame,” Buechler turned the tables on Hollywood executives and their allies by putting the blame firmly on them.

Buechler stated, “I think this provides us with another great opportunity to remind everyone who works in the industrial corporate Hollywood entertainment complex community and the corporate shill community whose fault this really is. Yours.”

He explained, “The fans didn’t write The Marvels. The fans didn’t greenlight Echo. The fans didn’t turn Star Wars and Marvel into girl brands. The fans didn’t decide to wade into identity politics. The fans didn’t decide to bypass decades of great storytelling in the source material that sold in the hundreds of thousands to jump into the worst era of storytelling in comic book history that sold in the thousands.”

“The fans certainly didn’t come up with the term toxic fandom,” he continued. The fans didn’t make the decision to kill off or completely vandalize the beloved characters. The fans didn’t put a chick in it and make her lame and gay. But the one thing you can pin on the fans: they were right.”

He then asserted, “So while Disney Marvel spends the next three or four years retooling, re-evaluating, re-calibrating, but definitely not rebooting the fans will have long since pivoted away from you.

“The term ‘you can’t unmake the soup’ does not do this problem justice. I think it’s more applicable to say ‘you can’t uncrap the poop,'” Buechler concluded.

In Disney’s recent Form 10-K filing with the Securities and Exchanges Commission the company declared that it “faces risks relating to misalignment with public and consumer tastes and preferences for entertainment.”

Specifically, it noted, “Consumers’ perceptions of our position on matters of public interest, including our efforts to achieve certain of our environmental and social goals, often differ widely and present risks to our reputation and brands.”

They know that people are uninterested in political agenda. They know people are not interested in the MSheU. They know people don’t want agenda-driven swaps of characters. They know people have rejected seeing Star Wars and Marvel turned into girl brands.

But they have no intention of stopping despite what their allies in the media have to say about retooling, re-evaluating, or re-calibrating. No, they just want to “quiet the noise,” but continue to vandalize their own properties and hope that the next generation will willingly swallow the slop that they produce.

What do you make of Buechler’s takedown of these Hollywood studios and executives as well as “the shills” in the media and on social media?
