Walt Disney Imagineering President Barbara Bouza announced she’s done at Walt Disney Imagineering at the end of the month after she attempted to bring a “broader global perspective” to the company.

Bouza revealed she was done at Walt Disney Imagineering in a lengthy post on Instagram.
She began it, “Proudly building upon our extraordinary legacy, Imagineers are shaping a future that inspires humanity. As one global team of innovative creators and storytellers, we immerse our guests in experiences that make memories of a lifetime.”
As a licensed architect I was recruited by The Walt Disney Company to challenge the norm and bring broader global industry perspective and expertise,” she asserted. “Joining Walt Disney Imagineering in June of 2020, I truly believed humanity needed Disney more than ever. The world was trying to understand the impact of a global pandemic, business disruption, stay at home orders, a reckoning on race, and the growing political divide.”
She added, “From there Imagineers endured the pressures of talent reductions, unprecedented hyper-escalation on projects, political crosshairs, and the need to make life changing decisions with their families around the relocation from California to Florida.”

Bouza went on, “Through all of this, Imagineers relentlessly created and delivered some of the most impactful projects in the history of The Walt Disney Company. This success has fueled the turbocharged growth of Disney Experiences through $60 billion in investment over the next 10 years that Bob Iger and Josh D’Amaro speak of. So I want to take this moment to personally thank all Imagineers, past, present and future for making the impossible possible.”
“It is bittersweet as I wrap up my work as President of Walt Disney Imagineering this month before I create an even bigger impact for world,” Bouza revealed. “Stay tuned! WDI will be in excellent hands with my partner, Bruce Vaughn, Chief Creative Officer, who is an exceptional creative leader.”
She concluded with a quote from Walt Disney, “‘There’s really no secret about our approach. We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious.'”

Disney analyst WDW Pro reacted to Bouza’s post speculating that she was fired.
He wrote on X, “They won’t say it out loud, but she’s being fired for terrible mismanagement and what will be a horrible Splash Mountain knockoff.

It’s definitely a possibility as the $60 billion the Walt Disney Company announced they would be investing over the next 10 years has been highly criticized by analysts.
One such analyst was Valliant Renegade, who reacted to the news when it was announced back in September 2023.
He said, “There’s nothing on this chart with what Disney is actually planning to do for the next 10 years with this $60 billion. As I said before, you have to wonder, does Disney even know?”
Later, he added, “But the real question with their presentation is: Where is the actual park expansions? You’re talking about adding more timeshare units, you’re talking about adding more hotel rooms, but what are we actually adding to the parks part of it? What are we adding to the actual attraction side of things? The things that get people to want to go to the parks to begin with. There seems to be virtually nothing there.”
Towards the end of the video, Valliant Renegade also asserted, “The big concern for analysts that had an impact on stock price, in my mind, was probably the fact they’re looking at Disney’s future and wondering where is all of that wonderful cash flow going to go from linear broadcasting, which has been on a decline.”
“Meanwhile, Disney’s streaming services are still deep in the red and Disney is now committing to spending $60 billion in CapEx (Capital Expenditure) over the next 10 years. Where might that come from? What impact could that have on Disney’s overall bottom line while their second major component of their business, television, is going by the wayside,” he added.

Bouza’s announcement of her exit comes within two weeks after it was reported that Walt Disney’s President of Motion Picture Studios Sean Bailey departed the company.
Deadline’s Anthony D’Alessandro and Mike Fleming Jr. reported on February 26th, “Effective immediately, Walt Disney‘s President of Motion Picture Studios Sean Bailey, who turned the company’s animation vault into a multibillion-dollar live-action movie business, is departing after 15 years on the lot.”
Bailey’s successor will be Searchlight co-president David Greenbaum, but he will be in a new role as President, Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios. He will report to Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman.
