The rules for California and the rules for Florida have been drastically different during the pandemic. That Park Place takes no political position or medical position other than recommending readers talk to their doctors about medical concerns. If only Universal Studios could be so lucky with such a position. Instead, the theme parks have been left to make policy decisions based on the sociopolitical leanings of the locales in which they operate.
In the case of California, that now means that Universal Studios is requiring all persons inside the park wear a mask at all times. It doesn’t matter if a guest is indoors or outdoors. It doesn’t matter if the guest is vaccinated or unvaccinated (although most guests are mandated to be vaccinated in the California park for entry). The only major exception appears to be that guests may have a mask lowered if they are in the act of actively eating. The changes come on the heels of government orders within Los Angeles proper that require “mega events” — gatherings of more than 10,000 persons — operate under strict precautionary orders.

Disneyland, meanwhile, has no such requirements due to it being located outside of Los Angeles. Neither do the Florida theme parks have these requirements, and often would be acting illegally if they enacted some of the Californian requirements within the Sunshine State.
