A new rumor claims that Lucasfilm plans to have Luke Skywalker make an appearance in Dave Filoni’s second season of Ahsoka.

This latest rumor comes from scooper WDW Pro, who detailed in a recent video upload, “According to a source that I have … Dave Filoni may be preparing to have Ahsoka now defeat Abeloth in Ahsoka Season 2 or at least face off with her. Not sure what the result will be, but I am hearing that Luke Skywalker will make an appearance. Whether or not he is part of the fight, Ahsoka seems to be the one that will be the one taking down Abeloth, but this also is related to The Mandalorian movie.
He continued, “What I’m hearing is that Dave Filoni may be getting visits … these days from folks from Burbank at least with virtual conferences. And the reason might be that The Acolyte was the final nail in the coffin. They’re spooked over at Disney. They’ve seen enough. They’ve heard enough. They’ve watched enough. They’re ready for people to watch Star Wars again. And so there may be an effort to move this franchise back to Luke Skywalker.”
“And what I’m being told is that while you probably will see Luke Skywalker in Season 2 of Ahsoka, you’re really going to see Luke Skywalker in some other stuff. And that they may be preparing for a heavy push of Luke Skywalker even if Kathleen Kennedy doesn’t like it. It doesn’t matter anymore. This is a franchise that’s going to go back to Luke,” WDW Pro added.

From there, Pro pointed to a post Mark Hamill made on X back in May. The actor wrote, “This tweet will gain in significance when the movie I start today is publicly announced.”

This rumor comes in the wake of one from Daniel RPK claiming that the character of Abeloth would appear in Ahsoka Season 2.

Abeloth was originally introduced in the Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi novel series that was authored by Aaron Allston, Christie Golden, and Troy Denning. She was originally a mortal servant to the Mortis gods: the Father, Son, and Daughter. Attempting to become immortal like them because she feared to lose them, she drank from the Font of Power and bathed in the Pool of Knowledge. This would corrupt her turning her into Abeloth.
She would eventually be imprisoned by the Son and Daughter in a place called the Maw. However, she would be able to free herself from the prison any time the Current of the Force was altered. Nevertheless, the Son and Daughter would return her to the prison each time she escaped.
However, the Mortis gods died during The Clone Wars and Abeloth was able to escape when Centerpoint Station was destroyed. Fortunately, Luke Skywalker and his son Ben teamed up with a Sith named Vestara Khai to imprison Abeloth back in the Maw.

READ: Rumor: Luke Skywalker To Feature In Jon Favreau’s ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Film
A previous rumor from WDW Pro claimed that Skywalker would return in Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian film. He noted in May, “The source tells me to look back to what Favreau said originally when he came on board with Star Wars, telling Lucasfilm and Disney, particularly, that he thought he could help. And he says that you can expect this movie to be a return to the quality of the first two seasons, but most importantly you might even consider this to be a Luke Skywalker movie.”
Pro continued, “The source tells me that the delay from 2025 to 2026 was largely because they did not believe that the level of Luke Skywalker that they want to use would be able to be completed in CGI with realistic appearance and all of that in the time frame that had been given.”
“Favreau realizes the reaction to Luke Skywalker from the second season and he wants that again for the movie,” Pro added. “The source goes to such a degree as to say that we might even expect a scene — although, folks, remember this can be cut in the editing room, we don’t know — but the source says that he has knowledge — I don’t know if he does or not — he says he has knowledge that there’s even a scene where Luke Skywalker and Grogu might join their Force powers together in battling some dark enemy.”

Lucasfilm announced The Mandalorian & Grogu in a blog post in January. It stated, “The Mandalorian and Grogu are embarking on a new adventure — to movie theaters. Directed by Jon Favreau, and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian & Grogu will go into production in 2024.”
Favreau shared, “I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy added, “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen.”

As for Season 2 of Ahsoka, Dave Filoni told Empire that it’s likely that Captain Pellaeon will reunite with Grand Admiral Thrawn, “We set up Captain Pellaeon in The Mandalorian, and that’s a character that goes with Thrawn, so I’d love to see the two of them together.”
Filoni had previously told the outlet that Thrawn would be the big bad in the New Republic era. He was asked, “Do you see Thrawn as the big bad of this New Republic era? Is that how you’re positioning him?”
Filoni responded, “Definitely, in my eyes. When Timothy Zahn wrote Heir To The Empire, Thrawn became this very iconic villain, because he was different than anything we’d seen before. He wasn’t another helmet-wearing, lightsaber-wielding bad guy, you know?”

“There’s a lot of pull to make characters that are like Vader, because it is so iconic,” he continued. “But the boldness that Tim had was to make somebody that wasn’t like that, that didn’t have those abilities, but could fight in a different way.”
Filoni added, “In the words Star Wars, the ‘war’ part of it — him being a Grand Admiral, a leader, a military strategist, a Moriarty archetype, someone that will out-think you, out-strategise you — that really resonated. He’s a critical player in this time period. We’re fortunate to have that character, and fortunate to have Lars [Mikkelsen] playing him.”

Filoni also shared he plans to mine Zahn’s Heir to the Empire novels for the story of Thrawn in Disney Star Wars, “There are a lot of factors, especially in playing with a character like [novelist] Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn — I want to make sure that I’m honouring ideas that Tim had, so I want to see what’s [in his books] for the story.”
“In The Bad Batch, there is actually some crossover with the book Heir To The Empire in the military base of Tantiss,” he relayed. “So there are little things along the way that I’ve built across different mediums, all in preparation for things that come later.”
