Capcom announced they have removed male and female armor for their upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds game and will continue to allow players to have male voices for female characters and vice versa.

During the Monster Hunter Wilds Developer Livestream at Gamescom earlier this week, Monster Hunter Producer Ryozo Tsujimo, Executive Director and Art Director Kaname Fujioka, and Game Director Yuya Tokuda demoed the game.

At the beginning of the presentation Tsujimoto discussed the game’s character creation through a translator, “For anyone who sees this screen is concerned that there’s simplified character creation, don’t worry this is just for the show floor demo version to make things go quickly. We’ve made some preset characters for you to choose, but the full game has the detailed character creator that you’ve come to know and leave.”

He added, “We’ve also included voices by default on each character today, but in the full game you will be able to choose the voice that you want to have on your hunter.”

This is not new given that Monster Hunter Rise, which released in 2021, also had this option and had removed the distinction between male and female characters referring to them as “Type 01” and “Type 02.”

A little bit later in the demo, one of the developers states, “You can see, I’m choosing my armor here. In previous Monster Hunter games you had male and female armor was separate. I’m happy to confirm that Monster Hunter Wilds there’s no more male and female armor. All characters can wear any gear.”

Capcom’s Community Manager Jonno Stanton then added, “That’s awesome. Fashion game is officially the end game.”

He later added, “Now, in Monster Hunter Wilds, no matter how you choose to build your hunter, what they look like, any of the armor sets in the game they can use as long as you have the monster parts. So that’s incredible. We know the community have been wondering if this would be the case. SO I cannot wait to see what the community cook up when they get their hands on it in 2025.”

The developers did not go into detail on how this will work, but it’s not hard to imagine that male characters will now be able to wear boob armor and bikini armor with female characters wearing male armor. In Monster Hunter Rise male and female armors were distinct as can be seen in the below video from Arekkz Gaming.

One can see how the Remobra S armor for a male fully clothed the character in plate mail with a closed helmet while the female character has a bare midriff and thigh section, a bikini top, and an open helmet with wings.

Again, based on the comments from the developers indicating there is no more gender restrictions on armor, one can see how the Remobra S armor for females can now be used on male characters.

It’s not surprising this change is being made given Capcom already removed male and female gender selections and allowed players to have male characters with female voices and vice versa. This is clearly the slippery slope of transgender ideology something that Capcom does indeed embrace.

The company’s Localization Team posted on X back in April, “Localization efforts extend to promoting inclusivity through language and representation. This involves adapting not only the linguistic aspects but also addressing gender-specific language, cultural norms, and diverse perspectives. The aim is to create an immersive experience where players from different backgrounds can identify with the characters and narrative. This can be very challenging for certain languages due to grammar.”
