Disney World Signals Return to Full Capacity in Spring

Does a new hotel opening signal that Disney is ready to return to full capacity?

The Walt Disney Company has announced it will be bringing the last of its temporarily closed hotels back online at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The company has performed a phased return of their hotel properties, coinciding roughly with the parks gradually increasing capacity limits put in place for COVID-19. This makes sense given that the more guests you have staying on-site at the resort, the more guests you have wanting to attend the parks.

We now know that Disney will be reopening the All-Stars Resort, a value option that is quite massive and sprawling. The hotel has approximately 4,800 rooms available at any time depending on renovations. Value is indeed the appropriate term for the hotel, however, as the tiny abodes are only 260 square feet in size. That can make a family of four feel a bit like sardines.

All-Star Resort rooms are small, but they’re no tighter than taking the kids on a trip in the RV!

Come March 31st, however, families of four can, indeed, squeeze on in and enjoy the neat theming and conveniences of staying on-site for a lesser fee than moderate or deluxe resorts at Disney. All-Star Resorts (which is divided into three different hotels and themes) will be fully reopen in time for spring, spring break, and especially summer. That would seem to indicate that the current plan by Disney is to increase capacity at the parks to nearly 100% if not fully 100%. Otherwise, why would they open a hotel that they can’t utilize?

Of course, things do change sometimes in times such as this, so be aware that Disney might alter the opening or change capacity desires depending on the pandemic. Still, this seems to be progress towards more normal, even as the world somewhat attempts to go back to the way we lived last year.
