Disney’s Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World is no stranger to political controversy, but a subtle change in signage has sparked significant speculation. A recent change in signage has Disney fans wondering if Donald Trump will be featured when The Hall of Presidents repopens.

Typically, when the attraction goes down for a lengthy refurbishment upon the swearing in of a new president, Disney puts out a sign saying that the attraction is closed as the House of Mouse prepares to “welcome our new president.” However, BlogMickey first reported that the attraction’s sign, as of January 20th—Donald Trump’s inauguration day—simply reads “Closed for Refurbishment.”
This deviation raises questions about whether Disney is subtly breaking from the long-standing tradition of incorporating the sitting president into the attraction. For decades, the Hall of Presidents has featured animatronic versions of U.S. leaders, with the current president highlighted in a speaking role.
However, this year’s lack of acknowledgment for Trump’s return has fans wondering if Disney is reconsidering its approach.
Disney’s Political Leanings Under Scrutiny
Disney’s liberal reputation adds another layer to the mystery. CEO Bob Iger was once rumored to be a Democratic presidential hopeful, and Dana Walden, Disney Entertainment Co-Chair and one of the hopeful candidates for future Disney CEO, reportedly shares a close friendship with Vice President Kamala Harris. Given these associations, some speculate that political biases might influence the company’s reluctance to “celebrate” Trump through the attraction.

When Trump first took office in 2016, Disney faced backlash from critics opposed to his inclusion in the Hall of Presidents. In a move that was seemingly to prevent activist disruptions, Disney installed an orchestra pit and stationed a security guard during performances to protect the animatronics.
Could the omission of the traditional language in the signage be a subtle nod to those controversies, or is Disney preparing to shake up the attraction’s format entirely?
An Existing Animatronic and Technical Considerations
One plausible explanation for the shift could be the existing Trump animatronic. Since Disney already added Trump’s figure during his first term, there might be no need to “welcome” a president who is already part of the display.

However, even this practical reasoning doesn’t fully explain the abrupt change in wording. The phrase has been a hallmark of the attraction for years, making its absence notable.
Trump vs Disney – A Contentious Relationship
Trump and Disney have butted heads in the past, with the U.S. president openly criticizing Disney’s embrace of “woke” ideology and identity politics. Recently, Trump praised former Marvel Entertainment chairman Ike Perlmutter for divesting from Disney, criticizing the company’s “woke” direction.
At a Mar-a-Lago event, Trump remarked, “The guy went from stone-cold broke to owning Disney. Then he got out of Disney because they went woke. He didn’t want woke Donald Duck, right?”

Disney has provided no statement about the Hall of Presidents’ future. The attraction closed on January 20th and is slated to reopen later this year, but no further details have been released.
It remains to be seen whether Disney will follow tradition and give Trump a speaking role in the updated Hall of Presidents or if this signage signals a departure from past practices. With Disney’s political leanings, it’s hard to ignore the possibility of a major shift.
For now, the Hall of Presidents remains a mystery—and Disney isn’t offering any answers.

So glad that the Once and Future President is coming back, but I admit I’ll miss calling him that. This will probably be the last time I can do it.
Yeah, “once and present president” while nice, doesn’t have the same ring to it.
But it does sound really nice to know we have someone competent in charge again
Time for an anti-woke movie studio, with tax breaks for anti-woke content. Trump has some actors on board, real men, like Mel Gibson, not the soy boys who work in woke Hollywood.
Disney is in the unenviable position of losing no matter what they do. If they course correct to match the masses brutal rejection of woke, their employees will go full WaPo and quit in droves at a time when they can’t afford the resulting mass shutdowns. If they don’t course correct, they’ll go bankrupt in short order as the masses abandon them.
What do executives and bureaucrats alike do when facing a tough choice? They avoid making one. I won’t be surprised if the Hall of Presidents is simply closed down until Disney goes under.
Yeah, I can see them doing that, just not reopening. Or redesign it as a more just focusing on the Founding fathers type of thing.
