Children of Blood and Bone, the trilogy that was supposed to be the first non-Star Wars non-Indiana Jones project by Lucasfilm since its acquisition by Disney, has been cut from The Walt Disney Company and is now under the umbrella of Paramount. The property was a huge pet project for Lucasfilm head, Kathleen Kennedy, who made it part of a major investor’s call in the past:

Children of Blood and Bone follows a young orphan named Zélie, who fights back against an evil king that commits atrocities against her people, the Maji, who practice magic. The first book was released in 2018 with its sequel, Children of Virtue and Vengeance, was out in 2019. The third book is rumored to be out in 2023.
“Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone has not only become a phenomenon in the YA world, it has transformed every expectation of what world-building fantasy can be. It’s with enormous pride that our studio — along with Tomi and our partners Wyck, Marty and Karen — set out to bring this franchise to life on the big screen. With its thought-provoking and timely themes, we know that this story will resonate with a global audience.”
— Co-President Paramount Pictures Motion Group, Daria Cercek
Looking at Kathleen Kennedy’s Lucasfilm demonstration, many of the projects she had relayed are now either cancelled or in limbo. The Book of Boba Fett, which was not mentioned, has opened to lower-than-desired ratings on Disney+. In the show, there may even be hidden anti Kathleen Kennedy graffiti on the set.

Still, Kennedy’s contract was reportedly renewed for three years, so Disney is getting what they paid for. A deep-dive into the ongoings of the situation can be found in the video by the excellent Valliant Renegade:
