The Nintendo Switch 2 has dominated the headlines over the past several days, however, it seems that their competitors over at PlayStation have a not-so-secret interest in the new system as well. So much so that Sony has released a survey to PlayStation fans asking their impressions on the console, services, and whether they will be buying a Nintendo Switch 2.

The survey comes hot off the heels of a special Nintendo Direct livestream that showcased various information and new features of the Switch 2, such as the price and release date.
While the higher price for the Nintendo Switch 2 games continues to be a heated debate amongst even the most loyal of Nintendo followers, it appears that Sony employees are studying the reactions and whether fans still want the new console.

One question from the survey asks, “As you may already know, Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to the Nintendo Switch, is releasing on June 5, 2025 for $449.99 / £395.99. How interested are you in purchasing the Nintendo Switch 2?” This question concerns Playstation fans, as it could indicate games across Sony might also see a significant price hike.
Everyone was right. Sony is now also testing the waters for 80 dollar games. Thanks Nintendo!

Sony has a controversial history with their pricing as nearly 20 years ago, they became the subject of memes with their now infamous 2006 E3 conference where they announced the then upcoming Playstation 3 would be retailing at $599 USD. Even more recently, Sony’s new Playstation 5 Pro retails at $699, and fans fear that Nintendo’s price bump could be an opportunity for Sony to follow suit and switch to a variable game pricing model.
extraordinarily funny in retrospect how “599 us dollars” became one of those prolific forever memes, outlasting both the ps3 itself as well as the ps4. People will probably still be making 599 us dollars jokes for the ps10 (which they will call the psx, full circle) pic.twitter.com/Z4xKfYA9aV

What data was found in the Playstation survey regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 may never be known to the public; however, gamers will likely see the results in future strategies Sony implements over the coming years. Just how the Switch 2 will affect Playstation in the future will only be revealed in time, but gamers can only hope that they will not have to “survey” the damage made to their bank accounts.
How will the newest Playstation survey about the Nintendo Switch 2 affect consumers? Are you worried about the price of future Nintendo and PlayStation products? Will Sony adapt Nintendo’s new pre-order approach for Playstation 6? Sound off in the comments!

They issued a similar survey near the release of the PS5 and I explained to them why I will never own one – their censorious policies, the closure of Studio Japan and the boring woke first party games.
