The legal battle between Gina Carano and Disney has just entered a new—and potentially game-changing—phase. Following a federal judge’s decision to grant Carano’s motion to compel, Disney has been ordered to turn over key internal compensation records tied to The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, The Acolyte, and the upcoming The Mandalorian & Grogu film. The ruling forces the entertainment giant to hand over verified spreadsheets and actor contract data within 20 days—a significant victory in Carano’s ongoing wrongful termination lawsuit.

Now, Carano has responded publicly to the development with a calm but firm statement expressing both gratitude and resolve.

“This is a small breath of fresh air in this long arduous process,” Carano wrote on X. “I am grateful to the court for moving so quickly. I look forward to the details of my case becoming public and clearing my name, which will allow me to continue doing what I love without such brutal discrimination. I remain incredibly grateful for this opportunity to defend myself against this Goliath. Thank you @elonmusk @x”

The court order, issued in the Central District of California, compels Disney to produce pay data for several major Star Wars actors—including Pedro Pascal, Rosario Dawson, Amandla Stenberg, Diego Luna, and Carl Weathers. These documents are critical for Carano’s legal team to evaluate how much she might have earned had she not been fired from The Mandalorian in 2021.

Gene Schaerr, Carano’s lead attorney, summarized the significance of the ruling.

“The court is forcing Disney to turn over information about how stars like Pedro Pascal, Rosario Dawson, & others from The Mandalorian, other Disney+ Star Wars shows, and the forthcoming movie The Mandalorian & Grogu were compensated for their roles… key evidence that will help show the financial harm that Disney imposed on Gina when it unfairly and unlawfully terminated her.”

Disney now has a narrow 20-day window to comply—and failure to do so could result in sanctions, a finding of contempt, or the court taking Disney’s noncompliance into account when weighing future motions. The judge made it clear that Disney cannot play procedural games to delay disclosure.

The court also denied Disney’s request to sanction Carano’s legal team, rejecting the studio’s attempt to paint her motion as baseless or burdensome. Instead, the judge outlined which documents must be turned over immediately and left the door open for additional discovery if Carano’s damages expert determines more data is needed.

This latest development follows weeks of criticism directed at Disney for its continued exclusion of Carano from company platforms. Just weeks ago, ESPN—which is owned by Disney—released a Women’s History Month tribute to the pioneers of Women’s Mixed Martial Arts. Carano, widely credited with helping to popularize women’s MMA, was completely omitted from the segment.

With the court now ordering Disney to reveal what it has long kept behind closed doors, the pressure is mounting.

Carano’s case has become a lightning rod in the broader conversation about cancel culture, ideological discrimination in Hollywood, and corporate accountability. Backed by Elon Musk and supported by critics of Disney’s internal politics, the lawsuit is shaping up to be far more than a personal dispute—it’s a referendum on how the entertainment industry treats dissent.

Very happy that Gina chose this fight. Giving Disney a black eye is a win in the culture war.
