Fans of Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run at Disney’s bi-coastal theme parks (Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World) got a surprise from Star Wars Celebration’s Disney Experiences panel; the last destination has been revealed for its 2026 update.
As we previously reported, adventures with Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) and Grogu are being added to the mix of possible scenarios in Smuggler’s Run, an attraction where vacationers get to crew the Millennium Falcon on an adventure through a galaxy far, far away. Since our initial reporting more details have emerged.

The new Smuggler’s Run experiences will be tied to The Mandalorian and Grogu, the forthcoming theatrical film based on Disney+’s streaming series, The Mandalorian.
Jon Favreau explained, “This isn’t going to retell what happens in the movie — it’s more like participating in something that’s happening just off-camera from what you see in the film.” Since that initial tease at South by Southwest, we’ve learned that the update will include four new locations, three of which were revealed to be: Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor.
On April 22, fans got even more information. A fourth destination has been revealed, as guests will be able to fly over Coruscant, the Capital City of the Empire and the Old Republic before it. They even announced a surprise for the engineers.

Frequent riders have complained that engineer is… let’s say the “least interesting”… of the possible crew positions. Imagineers may be hoping that with the new reveal there will actually be squabbles about who gets to take the role, instead of who has to. Now, the engineer will get to interact the Grogu, “the child” or “baby Yoda” himself.
Or maybe they’re adding a consolation prize to a little sister who has a super competitive dad and older brothers that need to wrack up a high score…

Until recently, the Galaxy’s Edge timeline has been sacred to Disney. That’s in keeping with Kathleen Kennedy’s insistence that the land be entirely new and based not on the Original or Prequel trilogies. Her point of view (as conveyed to Dan Cockerell) was that, “there are way more Disney Star Wars stories ahead of us than behind us.”
With Mandalorian era Luke Skywalker appearing in Disneyland and this new expansion, it seems Disney’s opinion on the matter has drifted a parsec or two.

Until the ride opens on May 22, 2026 fans, detractors, and internet speculators will have a blast speculating how exactly you’ll end up on the Falcon’s bridge in this era. Will Han have already lost the ship? Is it on lone to Hondo Ohnaka? Will guest get to interact with Han and Chewey as they fly over Bespin, through wreckage of the Death Star, into the deep desert of Tatooine, or amongst the Skyline of Coruscant?

This sounds more like a desperate attempt to bring people to an attraction that isn’t making any ROI. The thing has two rides and that’s it. Instead of adding more rides, they’re trying to use marketing for a theatrical release and cheap gimmicks to claim one has been “improved.”
