Iguanas Rejoice: Temperatures Warmer in Florida This Week

It’s been a very cold few days in Central Florida, and even down into Miami. You’ve probably heard of iguanas getting so cold that they’re falling out of trees. They’re not dead, they’re just frozen stiff.

 

But if you’re an invasive reptile with legs (no, not you Kermit), you’d better get the celebration parties ready. The weather in Florida is rising quickly, and making even dips into the waters of Volcano Bay and Typhoon Lagoon a possibility. After a trip down into freezing temps over the weekend, central sections of the Sunshine State are looking to reach all the way up to the eighties.

This isn’t the first time that temperatures in Florida have dropped this low, but it doesn’t happen every winter. It’s more like once a decade, perhaps.

So though it’s still wise to pack a coat whenever going to Florida December – February, at least for the upcoming days, it looks like northern visitors can still throw a pair of shorts into the suitcase.
