After years of unfiltered biased politics and endless commentary bashing Republicans, the ladies of The View may be facing a mandate to rein it in. According to a new report from The Daily Beast, executives at Disney and ABC News—including CEO Bob Iger and ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic—have reportedly met with the show’s co-hosts and executive producer Brian Teta to urge a shift away from constant political talk, especially the relentless bashing of President Donald Trump.

While The View has long been seen as a political talk show disguised as a daytime panel, insiders say that top brass are concerned the program has drifted too far from its original mission: a lifestyle show for women. And with The View politics segment turning into daily partisan tirades that often lead to cringey on-air legal notes to avoid costly lawsuits, it appears even loyal viewers are starting to feel the fatigue.
Politics Overload?
Two sources cited by The Daily Beast say the meeting between Iger, Karamehmedovic, and the hosts was cordial but direct. The executives stated that the show performs better when it leans into celebrity interviews and less into heated political discourse.

“Karamehmedovic highlighted episodes with celebrity guests that he said were highly rated,” one source noted.
But not everyone took the suggestion well.

Co-host Ana Navarro reportedly pushed back during the meeting, saying, “This is what our audience wants. Isn’t it gonna look kind of bad if we’re all of a sudden not talking about politics?”
According to the report, several other hosts found the guidance “silly” and vowed to “keep doing their thing.”
Navarro even confronted Iger again during Disney’s recent Upfront presentation to advertisers, where she thanked him for supporting the show’s political angle. But Iger, sources say, quietly reiterated that the show’s tone still needed softening.
Legal Troubles and Viewer Pushback
This internal effort to dial back The View and its ceaseless politics comes amid ongoing concerns about the show’s role in spreading misinformation. Earlier this year, the hosts were forced to issue multiple legal notes after making exaggerated claims about President Trump’s cabinet picks—raising questions about whether their political hot takes were crossing legal lines.
Moreover, the shakeup comes just as CBS and its parent company Paramount Global reportedly move toward a settlement with President Trump over an allegedly deceptive 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris. Though CBS and ABC are clearly two different networks, the common thread of media misrepresentation is impossible to ignore.
One source at ABC told The Daily Beast that the meeting wasn’t unique.
“ABC will constantly have conversations with talent based on viewer feedback, and this instance was no different,” they said. The implication is clear—audiences might be tuning out because they’ve had enough of the soapbox.
A Return to Normal?
The real question is whether the hosts of The View will comply and what will happen if they don’t? While executives stopped short of issuing a direct order, the message appears to be part of a broader Disney strategy: refocus on entertainment, soften political tones, and reduce the controversies. Whether the show’s personalities can—or will—play along remains to be seen.

Iger is a snake, so I can see him doing something like that. Unfortunately for him the harpies at the View won’t stop their hysteria.
Snake.
Yeah, sure, it’s about viewer numbers. No, ABC/Disney is terrified of being sued like NBC was and CBS is. The way those clucking hens on The View keep getting legal notes, it’s only a matter of time before they and the network face a lawsuit they can’t win.
