There were many, many rumors from a variety of sources that all pointed towards Han Solo appearing in the last episode of The Book of Boba Fett. Yet that didn’t happen. Why?
One theory that seems to be gaining traction with my sources is that the reason is very simple. Apparently, as the series had just made it to Disney+, there was a point in which it may have been determined that Boba Fett wasn’t getting a second season. The show’s ratings were dropping after the second episode, so it could have been at that point. There’s no reason to continue with a character if that character can’t draw in fans, right?

If you’re Disney and The Book of Boba Fett is getting beat by Cheer, you’ve got a problem.

As the theory goes, Han Solo was cut because Disney made the decision to not pursue additional seasons for The Book of Boba Fett. As a result, an appearance by Han Solo made no sense as it would have appeared at the end and teased the next season. Thus, instead we were given two replacement endings that didn’t add up to much of a sendoff for the new majordomo. First we had a hokey Boba Fett and the Vespa Kidz share-a-laugh scene. That would have been fine for ending the Vespa Kidz storyline, but probably not for a bounty hunter whose story is coming to a close. Then the second clip we had was of The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Imagine that… The Mandalorian and Grogu get the final episode in Boba Fett’s own series. Do you think that was really the original way they wanted to end it. Rather instead, the ending we got for Boba Fett may have been the intended opening scene for The Mandalorian Season 3.
So what happens now with cut Han Solo footage?
Surprisingly, I don’t think it will be used or show up later. I could be wrong. But based on what I think was filmed now, I don’t see how it can be recycled. What do you do with a few seconds clip and the line “I don’t care”?
All of this is rumor, but where there’s smoke… you get the idea. Was Han Solo cut from The Book of Boba Fett because he would have led into a season that was scrapped from the plan? Honestly, until there’s a purge of the Story Group folks at Lucasfilm, I’m happy to NOT see any OT characters in Disney+ shows. Favreau and Feloni can only do so much to avoid the Story Group from sabotaging their efforts. John and Dave got away with sneaking Luke in semi-successfully, but would rather they avoid making other OT characters targets until certain people are long gone.
Book of Boba Fett was such a disaster from the first episode that you absolutely cannot say John and Dave are not at fault for it. They should have thrown the script of the first episode into the dust bin the moment it portrayed Boba Fett as a care bear. In the first place making Boba Fett a crime lord was a mistake and massively limited what they could do with him as a character.
They cut the scene because they are desperate to cash in as much as possible on OT characters. They knew BOBF was a stinker of a show and they didn’t want to drag an important character like Han into it and by doing so diminish him. The damage they did to the character of Boba Fett was enough….
