The wrestling and entertainment worlds were rocked today by the death of the legendary Hulk Hogan.
Terry Gene Bollea, better known to the world as Hulk Hogan, the larger-than-life wrestling legend who defined an era of sports entertainment has died on July 24, 2025 at his home in Clearwater, Florida following a cardiac arrest. He was 71 years old.

Born on August 11, 1953 in Augusta, Georgia, and raised in Tampa, Florida, Bollea discovered his passion for wrestling after a youth spent playing bass guitar and admiring the athleticism of the ring. He burst onto the professional wrestling scene in 1977, but it was his signing with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 1983 that catapulted him to superstardom.

As Hulk Hogan, with his signature red and yellow attire, blond mustache, and rallying cries of “brother” and “Hulkamania,” he became the face of the 1980s wrestling boom. Hogan headlined eight of the first nine WrestleManias, including his iconic body slam of André the Giant at WrestleMania III—a moment etched in sports history that drew over 93,000 fans to the Pontiac Silverdome.
Hogan’s career spanned decades and promotions, from his six WWF World Heavyweight Championships to his transformative role in World Championship Wrestling (WCW), where he formed the New World Order (nWo) in 1996, revolutionizing the industry with its edgy villainous vibe. His heel turn (wrestling lingo for becoming a bad guy) at Bash at the Beach that year remains one of wrestling’s most shocking twists.

Beyond the ring, Hogan crossed over into Hollywood, starring as Thunderlips The Ultimate Male in Rocky III (1982) and leading family films like Suburban Commando (1991) and Mr. Nanny (1993). He also ventured into reality TV with Hogan Knows Best and even launched his own beer brand, Real American Beer, in recent years. In April 2025, he co-founded Real American Freestyle, serving as its commissioner, proving his enduring love for the sport of wrestling.
Despite controversies, including a 2015 scandal that led to a temporary WWE suspension, Hogan’s resilience mirrored his in-ring persona. He battled health issues courageously, undergoing over 25 surgeries in the last decade alone, including multiple back procedures and a recent neck fusion in May 2025.
Just weeks ago, rumors of his declining health were dispelled by his wife, Sky Daily, whom he married in 2023, affirming his strong heart and fighter’s spirit.
Hulk Hogan wasn’t just a wrestler; he was a cultural phenomenon who inspired millions to “train, say your prayers, and eat your vitamins.” He turned wrestling into mainstream entertainment, drawing families together and influencing generations of athletes and performers. His endorsement of political figures, like speaking at the 2024 Republican National Convention for Donald Trump, showcased his unapologetic patriotism and larger-than-life personality.

In his final years, Hogan reflected on his legacy with humility, often crediting the fans for Hulkamania’s eternal run. Today, as we mourn the loss of Hulk Hogan, we remember the man who body-slammed giants, overcame adversity, and left an indelible mark on the world that even death can’t defeat.
And while the man may have passed from this Earth, Hulkamania will live forever. Rest in peace, Hulk Hogan—your spirit remains unbeatable.
