In a damning indictment of mainstream media bias, a new study has laid bare the extreme left-wing slant of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, revealing that the program hosted a staggering 176 liberal guests compared to just one conservative since 2022.

This lopsided guest list, coupled with plummeting ratings and Democratic voter approval hitting a 35-year low, demonstrates why CBS finally pulled the plug on what had devolved into what many are calling little more than a corporate-funded therapy session for progressives.

As conservatives have long argued, this isn’t entertainment—it’s propaganda, and America proved that it’s done tuning in.

The study, conducted by the media watchdog group NewsBusters, paints a picture of blatant partisanship that would make even the most ardent progressive blush. From 2022 onward, Colbert’s couch was a revolving door for left-leaning politicians, journalists, and celebrities.

We’re talking 14 Democratic heavyweights like Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and Sen. Cory Booker. He even hosted Kamala Harris herself during the 2024 election.

Add in 29 liberal media figures such as MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, HBO’s John Oliver, and New York Times columnist Ezra Klein, and you’ve got a recipe for echo-chamber monotony.

Even New York’s Zohran Mamdani and Brad Lander got airtime.

The sole “conservative” outlier? Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who appeared in December 2023 to bash the GOP and Donald Trump—hardly a representative of true conservative values.

The bias didn’t let up in 2025. In the first six months alone, Colbert booked 43 left-leaning political guests and zero conservatives, leading all late-night shows in partisan tilt.

NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck didn’t mince words.

“Colbert’s show has been late-night group therapy for liberals,” he said. “Americans have continually shown they no longer have the time or patience for such partisan sneering masquerading as comedy.”

Houck’s assessment rings true as viewers have fled the Colbert Late Show in droves.

This revelation comes hot on the heels of CBS’s announcement that they were cancelling The Late Show, a move the network attributed to massive financial hemorrhaging.

With an annual budget exceeding $100 million and losses racking up $40 to $50 million yearly, the network could no longer justify propping up Colbert and The Late Show.

The study’s scope extends beyond Colbert, exposing a systemic bias in late-night television. Since 2022, shows like those hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart have collectively featured 511 liberal or Democratic guests against a paltry 14 conservatives and Republicans.

In early 2025, The Daily Show led with 32 left-leaning guests, followed by Meyers (16), Kimmel (10), and Fallon (5). The only conservative blip was policy expert Oren Cass on The Daily Show, discussing Trump-era tariffs—a rare moment of actual discourse.

Cass praised host Jon Stewart for being “genuinely interested,” however, Stewart’s return in February 2024 hasn’t helped matters. His segments boast a 99% liberal guest tilt.

Former Trump chief strategist Steve Bannon is calling this out, demanding investigations by the Federal Election Commission and Department of Justice into these networks for potential illegal campaign contributions to Democrats.

Estimating Colbert’s losses could total $500 million, Bannon labeled it a “contribution in kind” and a “deeply ingrained pattern of criminal behavior to assist the Democratic Party.”

CBS and Paramount declined to comment on the matter.

Colbert’s cancellation, set to wrap in spring 2026, proves the market still works: biased content fails when viewers vote with their remotes.
