Disney and Lucasfilm have reached a settlement with actress Gina Carano, who filed a lawsuit against the companies for discrimination and wrongful termination following her dismissal from the Disney+ series The Mandalorian.

Carano, who played Cara Dune in the show’s first two seasons, was fired in 2021 after posting controversial cautionary opinions on social media, including a post warning about the treatment of fellow American to the social climate of Germany during World War II. Her lawsuit, filed in 2024 with financial backing from Elon Musk, alleged that Disney and Lucasfilm targeted and defamed her for her political views and treated her differently from male co-stars who made similarly controversial statements.
Dominic Patten reported that a source close to Carano told Deadline she is “happy with how things were dealt with.”
The settlement terms were not disclosed, but a Lucasfilm spokesperson stated that Carano was respected by colleagues and that the companies look forward to potential future collaborations with her.
The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies. Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect.”
Five hours earlier, Carano posted to X “…and the truth shall set you free.”
