Universal Orlando Resort has introduced a new approach to its “Stay & Scream” early‑entry offering for Halloween Horror Nights 34, which runs from August 29 through November 2, 2025. The revised system, confirmed on August 9, 2025, shifts away from holding areas toward a wristband‑based system designed to offer greater flexibility.

Wristbands Replace Holding Pens, Freeing Up Movement

This year, guests holding both general‑day admission (or an annual pass) and a Halloween Horror Nights ticket—or those with a Scream Early add‑on—may arrive at Universal Studios Florida beginning at 3 p.m. Upon entry, they can pick up a Stay & Scream wristband at one of three designated locations: Lombard’s Seafood Grill, Illumination’s Minion Café, or Illumination’s Villain‑Con Minion Blast.

After receiving the wristband, guests are free to explore the park. They can ride attractions, shop, dine, or browse scare‑event merchandise before the official event begins.

In past events, guests waiting for early entry to the event had to wait in a holding area with access to a single haunted house once the event officially began. Although functional, this strategy limited early-entry guests on where they could go before the event.

Early Queue Access at 4 p.m.

Beginning at 4 p.m., wristband holders may enter select haunted house queues ahead of general admission. Exact opening times for specific houses have not been officially confirmed. However, early reports suggest that some houses like Fallout may open around 5:15 p.m., while Terrifier might begin around 5:30 p.m.

Scheduled Offerings and Buy‑On Options

Halloween Horror Nights 2025 at Universal Orlando will feature 10 haunted houses, including the new Jason Universe, which debuts on August 29th.

Guests may also add experience upgrades such as Express Passes, R.I.P. Tours, or Behind‑the‑Screams tours to their visit. Frequent Fear and other multi‑night passes are also available.

Rationale and Observations

Specialist coverage highlights how the new system enhances guest comfort and strategy. Wristband holders can avoid being confined to holding pens and instead use the hours from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. more productively—grabbing food, shopping, and even riding attractions beforehand.

These sources describe the changes as improving the early‑evening experience by increasing freedom and reducing crowding.

Summary

Universal Orlando’s updated Stay & Scream system for Halloween Horror Nights 2025 replaces the previous holding‑area model with a wristband check‑in at 3 p.m., granting guests free movement throughout the park until house‑queue entry begins at 4 p.m. Although there are no official details yet on which houses participate in early access, some may start between 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
