When Paramount Skydance announced its sweeping five-day-a-week return-to-office mandate last week, the memo didn’t just signal the end of hybrid work. For many employees, it was the loudest warning yet that Paramount layoffs are coming — and soon.

The company is already targeting $2 billion in cost savings after its $8.4 billion merger closed in August. With massive job cuts expected in early November, Paramount’s decision to tighten office policies looks less like a culture reset and more like a calculated move to “thin the herd” before the pink slips officially arrive.
