Disney is going to offer simplified packages at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, a location once known as a wholesome can’t miss experience, now mired in controversy and declining guest interest.
Inside Cinderella’s Castle at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park, tucked quietly into a small corner of the Fantasyland facing Castle wall, lies one of what used to be the most enchanting experiences for your little one: to be transformed by a “Fairy Godmother in training” in to a full fledged princess.
Perhaps you’ve heard of the “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique” or even had your little lady made up into a princess. And if your little happens to be a boy, perhaps he became a young, valiant prince! It was designed to be a charming experience that should be incredibly magical for children and and the entire family.

But to quote Rumplestiltskin from the Disney / ABC TV series “Once Upon A Time” – “All magic comes with a price!” And judging by the “Walk-In Opportunities Available” sign outside the building on July 4th this year, that price may be too high.

For just a “mini makeover?” If this seems overboard to you, you’re likely not alone. Yes, in the past with lower prices and even locations outside the park in Disney Springs and the Grand Floridian Resort, this used to be a very popular experience. That popularity seems to have waned dramatically of late.
“Subject To Availability” – Reservations Recommended: So Is Hard To Nab A Spot?
Disney highly recommends reserving a time slot for this prior to your vacation. In the past, nabbing a spot at the boutique could have been a challenge, with entire blog posts dedicated to strategizing for parents so as not to disappoint their daughters once that reservation window hit.
But as our own Marvin Montanaro has pointed out in his article about the 4th of July this year (2025), the Magic Kingdom park was so slow that the salon was actually accepting “walk ins.”

Considering how popular this exclusive, one-of-a-kind experience has been historically, even he was taken aback by this discovery. It’s true, attendance has been quite lackluster of late at Disney World.
I was at the Magic Kingdom this past Tuesday and so I inquired in person as to any current availability at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. The cast member I spoke with at approximately 3 p.m. let me know that were I to return with our child in the next 90 minutes, they would be able to get me in. It’s not possible to speculate if this is always the case, but it was both on the 4th of July and September 9th, 2025.
The Bibbidi Bobbidi Controversy Created By Disney
For decades, Disney held to standards they called “The Four Key Basics.” Those keys were safety, courtesy, show, and efficiency.
In 2021, Disney introduced a new “inclusion” key. As a part of it’s rollout, Disney, going against their “show” key, lowered the standard known as “the Disney Look,” which was a cast member appearance standard in place for years.

Women would look like ladies and men like gentlemen: clean cut and well groomed. No visible tattoos. No jewelry for men other than a wedding ring. These very high standards ensured guests would be focused on the story and experience, not on any cast member’s personal lifestyle choices.
The “inclusion” key changed all that and lead to males being cast in female roles. In 2023 a man with a mustache was working in a dress at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Disneyland. A video of this went viral and was immediately panned and met with serious backlash online from conservative families.

Coupled with outrageous prices, this incident is could be partially responsible for the massive decline in business at the boutique on both coasts, and perhaps a reason why Disney is making changing in hopes to incentivize guests.
Changes Ahead – Here Comes Fairy Godmother
While the services and prices listed above are current and correct, changes at the boutique are on the way.
The Disney website notes, “New enhancements are coming to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, including special visits from The Fairy Godmother! We will also be rolling out new, simplified package options. These updates are coming in early October.”
As of now, no specific details about the “enhancements” have been revealed.

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique also has a presence at Disneyland in Anaheim, California and will also undergo a similar change. It’s of note that the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has historically supported two other locations on the Walt Disney World property: one at Disney Springs and another at the Grand Floridian Resort. Currently, neither of those locations are open, so this unique and exclusive experience is only available at Disney World at Cinderella’s Castle in the Magic Kingdom, with a satellite location just across from the castle in Fantasyland.
Supposedly, the changes coming are to simplify the choices for families, but many also wonder whether it might come with more affordable options as well.
Of course, with some of the cuts Disney has made in recent years, one has to wonder if the experience will be just as good, or if families will be paying more, but getting less.
