A new movement has purportedly begun within The Walt Disney Company employees, although its size, devotion and authenticity have yet to be determined. According to Blog Mickey and other sources, a group that claims to be made up of Disney employees is planning to begin a series of smaller walkouts culminating with a much larger walkout on March 22nd. The group claims to be taking these actions in protest of Bob Chapek and Disney’s reaction to the Florida legislation that forbids gender fluidity and sex theory teachings in official curriculum for five to eight year old children in public schools. Although Chapek and Disney have tried to donate millions to the Human Rights Campaign organization, that money was turned down. Disney also has pledged to lobby against similar legislation in other states. The legislation is referred to as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by detractors and the “Anti-Grooming Bill” by supporters.

Particularly interesting about the new Disney Walkout group is that they are using what appears to be the gloved hand of Mickey Mouse or Minnie Mouse held in such a way as to resemble the “red salute fist” or “communist fist”. The fist iconography has been used by communists, Marxists, China, Russia, as well as some members and official leaders of social movements within the United States that have been seen in the last few years.

One of our writers, WDW Pro, will offer thoughts on this development in an article tomorrow. The news of this article follows a series of escalating political and cultural shifts within and around the Disney Company, including propaganda in a Pixar film and attacks on negative reviews of the latest Disney movie with claims of racism against at least one Cinema Blend critic (Sean O’Connell).

That Park Place is not a political website and takes no side as to the Florida legislation or Disney’s response to it.
