Mario’s trusty dinosaur Yoshi has made his first appearance ahead of the sequel — on a cookie box. Despite being left out of the Super Mario Galaxy teaser trailer, Yoshi was revealed as part of a promotional tie in with Pillsbury.
A cookie-dough kit marketed by Pillsbury appeared online through grocery chain Tops Friendly Markets. The listing showed a “Ready-to-Bake Yoshi Egg Sugar Cookie Dough” box with Yoshi and Mario in a film-style design on the cover.

On the back of the packaging, several planets and Bowser Jr.’s graffiti mark appear in the artwork, all but confirming the dino steed’s presence in the upcoming film.
What This Suggests
Yoshi’s inclusion on the packaging gives a near-official preview of his movie design. He was absent from the first Super Mario Bros. Movie, but a post-credits scene showed his egg beginning to hatch. That moment implied his future role in the sequel.

The cookie-dough packaging also shows a galaxy-themed background with structures resembling Rosalina’s Comet Observatory from the Super Mario Galaxy games. In the games, the Observatory serves as a hub connecting various planets and levels. The design of the structure on the box appears consistent with its depiction in the games, including the spire-like central tower and surrounding platform elements.
The Observatory is often associated with guiding Mario and his allies across space-themed levels, which could indicate that the sequel will continue the series’ space-adventure aesthetic.

The packaging also includes a graffiti-style symbol associated with Bowser Jr., whose appearance in the film was confirmed in the first trailer. In the Super Mario Galaxy games, Bowser Jr. often functions as an assistant or secondary antagonist to Bowser, which may indicate a similar dynamic in this movie.
Verification and Authenticity
The product listing was removed soon after it appeared. However, several outlets reported on it and shared images of the design.

The matching art style and branding are consistent with earlier licensed merchandise. That consistency supports the belief that the product is an official tie-in, not a fan creation.
Until official promotional materials are released, the cookie packaging remains the clearest preview available.
