If you are visiting Dollywood in the near-future, be aware that their thrilling Drop Line attraction near Thunderhead roller coaster is now closed. Drop Line is a themed free-fall ride that has guests experiencing an extraordinary view of the Smokies-based theme park before plummeting to the ground. However, the ride is very similar to an attraction that left one teenager dead in the Florida locale, Icon Park.
“Yes (he was secured in the seat). That’s what we know at this time. So again, we operate the ride with all the safety precautions in mind and everything is in place and this is why we’re doing an investigation,” John Stine, sales director with the Slingshot Group which owns the ride, said, according to CBS Miami.
For Dollywood, the move is totally out of an abundance of caution. There is no sign yet that the attraction at Dollywood is flawed or unsafe in any way. However, theme park leadership wanted to make sure that guest safety comes before all else.
“Although Dollywood does not have the specific ride involved in this tragic incident, the safety of our guests is our top priority.”
