Nintendo has launched a new application titled “Hello, Yoshi!” on November 18, 2025, in Japan for both the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. The app is part of Nintendo’s My Mario family-oriented product campaign, which aims to provide interactive experiences designed for young children and their parents.
How the App Works
Designed for young children, the app emphasizes simple, tactile interactions rather than traditional game objectives. Users can stretch Yoshi’s tongue to “eat” on-screen items, tap or poke his features to trigger different expressions, and discover different colored Yoshis hatching from eggs. If left idle, Yoshi eventually falls asleep, causing the app to become inactive. Nintendo describes this feature as a gentle way to encourage rest breaks during play.
Unlike conventional games, the app prioritizes sensory engagement over scoring or goal completion. Its interface is intentionally minimalistic, allowing young children to explore without navigating complex menus or controls.

This works similarly to the “Hello, Mario!” app released in August. Users can squish Mario’s face while he says his iconic expressions, “Wa-hoo!” and “Ooh!”
Both apps are free to download on the Nintendo eShop for Switch and on major mobile app stores for mobile devices.
Related My Mario Products
Alongside Hello, Yoshi!, Nintendo announced several physical products that expand its My Mario Yoshi line.

These include:
-
A picture book titled Licky-Licky Yoshi, published by Shogakukan. The book uses flaps and movable parts so children can mimic stretching Yoshi’s tongue or feeding him fruit.
-
A talking and singing plush called Sing & Talk! Flappy Yoshi, produced by Joy Palette. It features 13 voice lines, two modes (“Chat Mode” and “Melody Mode”), and two songs: the Yoshi’s Story theme and Yoshi’s Song.
-
A set of pastel-colored soft plush products created by Happinet, including a standard plush, a “doudou” blanket plush, and a rattle designed for infants and toddlers.
-
Three-piece wooden block sets for Yoshi, Peach, and Luigi, which also function as amiibo figures compatible with Nintendo Switch.
These items are intended to complement the digital content by providing physical forms of play for young children.
Release and Availability
The app and most accompanying products launched in Japan on November 18, 2025. The picture book follows on November 20th.

Strategic Context
The release of Hello, Yoshi! follows the debut of Hello, Mario! earlier in the year. That app also centers on interactions with a character’s face and was launched as part of the broader My Mario initiative. By pairing Hello, Yoshi! with new toys, plush items, and books, Nintendo continues to build an ecosystem that blends digital and physical forms of play.

The strategy supports family-oriented design principles. The app’s auto-sleep feature helps regulate usage, while the plush toys and wooden sets use materials and designs suited for toddlers and young children.
