Shanghai Disney May Remain Closed

The Walt Disney Company is getting everything they should have seen coming when they built billions and billions of dollars of theme park in a communist dictatorship. Shanghai Disney Resort remains closed today, along with almost the entire city, as China unsuccessfully tries to defeat COVID with isolation policies. Citizens in China are literally being driven insane with starvation, pets being slaughtered by authorities, and the inability to leave their tiny apartments. It’s hard to plan a theme park vacation when an entire city has become an incarceration zone.

We’re refraining from posting some of the more brutal images out of Shanghai. If you’re the praying sort, perhaps prayers for the innocent citizens of Shanghai are in order. If you’re not, maybe thoughts and good vibes are something to do. At the least, we can all keep perspective about bad things in our day as we think about people being starved to death by a dictatorship.

All of this is to say, the chances of Shanghai Disney opening soon are slim to none. Even if the lockdowns end, it’s hard to imagine cast members being physically or psychologically able to return to work right away. Unfortunately, Disney has yet to make a single statement regarding this massive atrocity or the pain their employees are suffering.
