Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new permit for work inside the former MuppetVision 3D theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida. The City of Orlando Building Department lists the permit as “install set elements.” This permit covers work entirely within the existing building.
The permit, submitted in early March 2026, names Walt Disney Imagineering as the applicant and Adirondack Studios as the contractor. The filing does not provide information about what type of show will occupy the space. Disney has not released additional details regarding the timeline.
We know that some sort of show will replace MuppetVision 3D, with “The Glob” being a play on words for Shakespeare’s Globe. However, the details for this Monsters Inc. show have not yet been disclosed.

Historical Context and Significance
MuppetVision 3D opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 1991. The attraction was developed in collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering and the Muppets franchise.
The theater closed on June 7, 2025, with many fans mourning the end of one of Jim Henson’s last major projects before his death in 1990.

The closure of MuppetVision 3D is part of a broader reconfiguration of the area within Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where the former Muppet Courtyard will be reworked into a Monsters Inc. themed land. Next to the Glob, Disney is working on a “flying door” coaster as one of other main attractions for the upcoming area.
Timeline and Future Considerations
Construction is expected to last several months. No official completion date has been released. Disney generally announces project details closer to opening, so further information will likely remain limited.
