The Super Mario Galaxy Movie box office run just hit another major milestone, as the film is set to soar past $600 million worldwide in only its second weekend of release.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Illumination and Nintendo’s animated sequel has already crossed $300 million domestically and continues to dominate overseas markets, cementing itself as the first Hollywood release of the year to hit those marks.

A Second Weekend Surge

After a massive debut, the film didn’t just hold—it surged.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is expected to bring in nearly $70 million domestically in its second weekend, pushing its North American total to approximately $308.1 million. Internationally, it’s adding another $90 million from 81 markets, bringing its overseas total to around $327 million.

That combination drives the film past the $600 million global mark in record time, putting it firmly on track to become one of the biggest releases of the year.

Fastest Film of the Year to Hit the Milestone

With this performance, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie becomes the first Hollywood film of 2026 to surpass both $300 million domestically and $600 million worldwide at the box office.

That’s not just a strong showing—it’s a clear signal that the Mario brand continues to resonate at a global level in a way few franchises can match.

Project Hail Mary Continues Strong Run Toward $300 Million

While The Super Mario Galaxy Movie box office headlines the weekend, it’s not the only film putting up impressive numbers.

Amazon MGM Studios’ Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, is continuing its steady climb at the box office. Now in its fourth weekend, the film is expected to bring in another $28 million domestically, pushing its North American total to roughly $258 million.

That puts the sci-fi adventure within striking distance of the $300 million domestic milestone—an impressive showing as it continues to hold strong in theaters.

The Road Ahead Looks Even Bigger

At its current pace, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie box office trajectory isn’t just pointing toward profitability—it’s heading straight into blockbuster territory.

With strong domestic numbers, continued international momentum, and no immediate signs of slowing down, the film now has a clear path toward hitting the coveted $1 billion box office in the coming weeks.

They have a woman save the princess, whilst Mario looks on. Feminist slop. The reason it’s printing money is, it looks Caucasian. Take note, HBO (Snape, Hermione etc).
