Disneyland Resort has reached a historic attendance milestone by welcoming its honorary one billionth guest. The recognition took place on July 3, 2026, at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, just days ahead of the resort’s 71st anniversary.
The Disneyland one billionth guest honored during the ceremony was 8-year-old Andres Robles of Arizona. He was visiting the resort with his parents, Alejandra and Jose Robles, to celebrate his birthday. Instead of beginning a typical family visit, the Robles family was greeted by Disney representatives and invited to take part in a ceremony at the Main Street, U.S.A., train station.

During the ceremony, Andres helped reveal an updated population sign that now reads “Population 1,000,000,000.” The sign has stood near the entrance to Disneyland Park for decades. Disney said the new figure recognizes one billion guest visits to Disneyland Resort over its history. The resort includes Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.
How the Disneyland One Billionth Guest Was Recognized
After the ceremony, the Robles family received a VIP experience at Disneyland Resort. Disney said the family was accompanied by a VIP tour guide throughout the day. Their itinerary included a visit to Walt Disney’s private apartment above the Main Street Fire Station and a ride on the newly opened Soarin’ Across America attraction at Disney California Adventure Park.

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck also joined the family during parts of the celebration for photos marking the occasion.
Disney said the family would enjoy additional experiences throughout the resort as part of the honorary one billionth guest recognition, although the company did not provide further details.
A Landmark Moment for Disneyland Resort
Disneyland opened on July 18, 1955, marking the beginning a new era of family-centered theme parks. It was the only Disney theme park that Walt Disney personally oversaw from planning through completion. The property later expanded into Disneyland Resort, which now includes Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, three Disney-owned hotels, and the Downtown Disney District.
Jill Estorino, President of Disneyland Resort, spoke of the significance of this moment.
“Welcoming our one billionth guest is a remarkable milestone for Disneyland Resort and a testament to the generations of guests who have made this special place part of their lives,” she said. “For more than 70 years, Walt’s original park has been a timeless symbol of Disney storytelling, where memories are made and shared, and we are honored to carry that legacy forward for guests today and for generations to come.”

The attendance milestone comes during Disneyland Resort’s 70th anniversary celebration, which began in May 2025 and continues into 2026.
What the One Billionth Guest Milestone Means
The Disneyland one billionth guest recognition refers to one billion cumulative guest visits rather than one billion different people. Like attendance totals reported by many theme parks, repeat visits by the same guest count toward the overall figure.
Attendance milestones are common across the theme park industry. They give park operators an opportunity to recognize guests while marking significant points in their history. In this case, Disney selected a family already planning a birthday visit to represent the occasion.
Disney also released photographs from the event showing Andres Robles and his family during the ceremony alongside Disney ambassadors and Disney characters. The images documented the unveiling of the updated population sign.
The announcement came just weeks before Disneyland’s July 17 anniversary. More than 70 years after opening, the resort continues to mark major attendance milestones while reflecting on its long operating history.
