Want a nice, cold butterbeer? Regal Cinemas is bringing back its Harry Potter-inspired Butterscotch ICEE as the film series returns to theaters for its 25th anniversary. The frozen drink will be available at select Regal locations beginning August 24, 2026, while supplies last.

The beverage will arrive three days before Regal begins its theatrical run of the Harry Potter films. All eight movies will return to participating theaters from August 27 through September 3.

When the Regal Butterscotch ICEE Returns

Regal’s Butterscotch ICEE returns August 24 at select theaters. The promotion does not currently have a publicly announced end date. The drink will remain available while supplies last, so availability may differ between locations.

The beverage previously appeared at Regal in 2025. That earlier promotion accompanied the theater chain’s Harry Potter screenings and included the same general butterscotch concept.

Customers should check their individual theater for concession availability before visiting. Regal’s theater listings show that movie schedules can vary considerably by location.

What Is in the Butterscotch ICEE?

The returning beverage starts with a frozen butterscotch-flavored ICEE. It is topped with cold foam and caramel drizzle.

Regal’s drink is inspired by the flavor associated with Butterbeer in the Harry Potter universe. However, it is not the same beverage sold as Butterbeer at licensed Wizarding World locations. The distinction is important because Butterbeer has its own established recipe and presentation.

Harry Potter Movies Return to Regal

The Butterscotch ICEE promotion coincides with the return of all eight Harry Potter films to Regal theaters. Regal’s official promotion describes the event as a return to Hogwarts and lists tickets starting at $9.75.

The screenings run from Aug. 27 through Sept. 3, 2026. Regal’s theater pages already show individual screenings for the films during that period.

The lineup includes:

  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

The first film will also appear under its international title, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, at some Regal locations. Certain theaters are listing 3D screenings as well.

The schedule is not identical at every theater. Some locations show one film per day, while others list additional screenings or alternate formats.

The 25th Anniversary Brings the Films Back

The theatrical return marks 25 years since Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone debuted in U.S. theaters in November 2001.

Regal is participating in the broader anniversary theatrical release of all eight films. The chain’s current promotion describes the screenings as a way to see the series on the big screen again. Regal is also offering rewards connected with the screenings. Its promotions page says customers can receive milestone rewards associated with seeing the films.

Return of the Butterscotch ICEE and Harry Potter Films

The Butterscotch ICEE returns August 24 at select Regal locations. This comes just in time as the eight Harry Potter films will return to Regal theaters from August 27 through September 3. The promotion is part of the 25th-anniversary celebration for the original Harry Potter film.
