Disney has installed new standing railing tables at EPCOT as preparations continue for the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival 2026, which starts later this month on August 27. The railing-mounted counter sits in the Germany pavilion and gives guests a place to set down food and drinks while standing.

WDW News Today reported the installation on August 20, 2026. Photos show a narrow counter attached to a flowerbed railing in the Germany pavilion. The counter has a raised edge and a notice telling guests not to sit on it.

The installation comes as Disney continues replacing older trash and recycling bins at EPCOT. The newer bins have rounded tops with solar panels, unlike the flat surfaces found on many older models. Guests had previously used those flat surfaces as places to rest food and drinks during EPCOT festivals.

The new fixture provides a narrow standing surface along an existing railing. The counter includes a raised edge along its outer side. A decal also warns guests that the counter is not intended for seating.

The available reporting confirms the installation in Germany. It does not establish how many additional counters Disney plans to install around EPCOT.

Disney has not announced a total number of railing tables, a completion date, or a timetable for removing them. The company also has not said whether the fixtures will remain after the Food and Wine Festival ends.

New Trash Cans Have Changed Available Surfaces

The railing table appeared during Disney’s ongoing rollout of new solar-powered trash and recycling cans at EPCOT.

BlogMickey reported in July that the newer units have rounded tops and internal compactors. The publication also tested the new cans as makeshift tables. Food containers could sit on the curved surface, although drinks presented a greater stability concern.

Disney has continued installing the newer waste receptacles in different parts of EPCOT. By August 18, the solar-powered cans had appeared in World Celebration and The Land pavilion.

The change matters during EPCOT festivals because guests often carry small food portions and beverages between the park’s pavilions. The older flat-topped bins provided an unofficial place to rest those items.

The new railing counter offers a dedicated standing surface without requiring guests to use a trash can.

Food and Wine Festival Preparations Continue

The 2026 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival begins August 27 and runs through November 21. Disney says the event will feature more than 30 Global Marketplaces throughout EPCOT.

Festival preparations have been underway for several weeks. By August 18, signage had appeared on 24 Global Marketplace kiosks around EPCOT. Crews began installing the kiosks in July.

The festival will also feature the Eat to the Beat Concert Series. Disney’s published schedule includes performances from August 27 through November 16.

The timing of the new railing table places its installation within a broader period of construction and preparation for the festival. However, the available evidence does not show that Disney installed the counter specifically for Food and Wine.

What Disney Has Confirmed

The confirmed development is a railing-mounted standing counter in EPCOT’s Germany pavilion. Photographs show the counter’s narrow design, raised edge and notice indicating that it is not for seating.

The new waste receptacles represent another ongoing change at EPCOT. Disney continues to install solar-powered trash and recycling cans while older models remain in some areas.

The new counter in Germany is a small physical change at EPCOT that comes as the park prepares for its annual Food and Wine Festival. The event begins August 27 and continues through November 21.
