A new Monstropolis Glob Theater update shows another stage of construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Scaffolding has come down from the clock tower and main entrance facade of the former Muppet*Vision 3D theater. The building will become the Glob Theater as part of the upcoming Monstropolis land.
The exposed facade provides a clearer look at the work. However, the building does not yet match the Glob Theater shown in Disney’s concept art.
Recent photographs show that some scaffolding remains around other sections of the building. Crews also continue work on the facade and surrounding areas of the former Muppets Courtyard.
The former Muppet*Vision 3D attraction closed on June 7, 2025. Disney announced the closure in January 2025 as part of plans for a Monsters, Inc.-themed land. The project includes the Glob Theater, dining, shopping and a suspended roller coaster.
Clock Tower Receives Exterior Changes
The clock tower has undergone several changes during the conversion.
The most noticeable change involves Gonzo, who previously appeared on the clock’s minute hand. Crews removed the character as work on the building progressed.
Workers also removed several decorative features from the tower. These included fake window shutters, a wooden post and beige trim. Crews have also updated portions of the surrounding brickwork.
The upper cornice has changed as well. Recent photographs show a different finish on parts of the upper tower and changes to the brickwork surrounding the clock.

The clock face remains largely recognizable. It retains its white face, black Roman numerals and dotted outer border. The clock also operates again.
The tower remains unfinished, however.
Current Appearance Differs From Concept Art
Disney’s concept art depicts a more detailed version of the Glob Theater than the structure currently visible at the park.
The artwork shows the clock as the pupil of an eye on the tower. It also includes a banner below the clock and additional decorative details on the tower. Gutters appear along both sides of the tower in the concept art. The upper section also features a green color, with the red brick lower down on the building.
Those features have not appeared on the exposed structure.

The facade also contains visible gaps in the brickwork, leaving space to add more theming.
The main entrance also remains incomplete. Metal supports now extend from the brickwork above the entrance, to hold the marquee later. Disney’s concept art shows a prominent marquee above the entrance. It identifies the venue as the Glob Theater and promotes the “Welcome to Monstropolis” production.
Some scaffolding remains near the entrance and along another section of the building. Crews continue work in those areas as construction advances.
Details Announced for the Glob Theater Show
Disney provided additional information about the theater production in August 2026.
The show, titled “Welcome to Monstropolis,” will feature Mike Wazowski and Sulley as hosts introducing the world of monsters to humans for the first time. Randy Newman wrote an original song for the production. The song also carries the title “Welcome to Monstropolis.”
Monstropolis Opening Timeline
The Glob Theater represents one part of a larger redevelopment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The Monstropolis land will occupy the former Muppets Courtyard area and extend into the surrounding area. Disney’s plans include the Glob Theater, dining, shopping and a suspended roller coaster based on the door vault sequence from Monsters, Inc.

Disney announced in August 2026 that most of Monstropolis, including the Glob Theater, will open in 2027. The Door Vault roller coaster will follow a later schedule. Disney has not announced a specific opening date for the coaster.
What the Latest Construction Shows
The removal of scaffolding provides a clearer view of the former Muppet*Vision 3D theater as its conversion continues.
The exposed facade shows the changes made to the clock tower and entrance. It also makes the remaining differences between the current structure and Disney’s concept art easier to identify.
Several planned exterior elements remain absent from the clock tower. The new theater marquee has also not yet been installed, while construction continues around the building.
For readers following the Monstropolis project, the latest work offers a more detailed look at the building’s eventual appearance. Further changes will come as crews install the remaining facade elements and complete the theater entrance.
