The closure of Slinky Dog Dash has entered a third consecutive day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Toy Story Land roller coaster did not operate on August 31 or September 1. It also remained closed on September 2.

The extended downtime follows additional interruptions for the attraction late last week. Slinky Dog Dash closed for several hours on August 28 and again on August 29. Those earlier closures came shortly before the current shutdown.

Reason Unknown

Disney has not announced the reason for the shutdown. The company also has not provided a reopening date or time. Cast Members at the attraction could not provide an estimated reopening time and expected the ride to still be closed on September 3.

The length of the shutdown makes the situation different from the shorter interruptions that can affect attractions during normal park operations.

However, the available information does not establish what technical or operational issue has kept Slinky Dog Dash closed.

Current Obsevations

WDW News Today reported on September 2 that one Slinky Dog Dash ride vehicle was visible near the attraction’s second launch. An electrical panel near the area also appeared to be open.

The observations have led to speculation about a possible electrical or ride-control issue. The position of the vehicle and the visible electrical work suggest that crews may have been working in the launch area during the closure.

Cast Members near the ride entertained guests with hula hoops and Pixar balls.

Recent Downtime

Slinky Dog Dash also experienced downtime shortly before the current three-day interruption.

Last week on August 28, the ride remain closed for four hours. On August 29, the downtime grew to seven hours.

Slinky Dog Dash

Slinky Dog Dash is a family roller coaster in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney describes the attraction as a coaster that takes riders through Andy’s backyard. The ride includes hills, curves and two launch sections. The attraction has a 38-inch minimum height requirement.

Slinky Dog Dash is one of Hollywood Studios’ most popular ride, with wait times often exceeding an hour. The unexpected closure has quite the impact on the park.

No Reopening Time Announced

Disney has not announced when Slinky Dog Dash will reopen. That leaves guests without a confirmed timetable for the attraction’s return. Cast Members also reportedly have not been able to provide an estimate.

Visitors at Disney’s Hollywood Studios can check the My Disney Experience app for the attraction’s current status. Attraction availability can change during the day, so the listed status may not remain the same throughout a visit.

For guests planning their day around Slinky Dog Dash, the current situation means there is no confirmed operating window to rely on. The coaster could remain unavailable until Disney completes the work needed to return it to service.

Ride Closure

September 2 marked the third day of Slinky Dog Dash being down, with hour-long disruptions in the days prior.

With no reopening time announced, guests hoping to ride should keep their eye one the My Disney Experience app for the latest news.
