Peter Pan’s Flight reopens at Magic Kingdom on Tuesday, September 22, after an unexpected closure that lasted more than a day.
The closure didn’t appear to be part of a previously announced refurbishment. Disney describes Peter Pan’s Flight as a Fantasyland attraction with no minimum height requirement. Guests board pirate galleons and travel through scenes based on Disney’s 1953 animated film Peter Pan.
The Unexpected Closure
Peter Pan’s Flight went offline during normal Magic Kingdom operations on September 21. The attraction stopped operating at shortly before noon and remained closed for the rest of the day.
The ride also remained unavailable when Magic Kingdom opened on September 22. That extended the closure into a second operating day before the attraction returned that afternoon.
The ride was unavailable for roughly 27 hours reopening at approximately 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

While the attraction remained closed, a hopscotch area appeared near the attraction.
Peter Pan’s Flight
Peter Pan’s Flight is located in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. Disney describes the ride as a journey aboard a pirate galleon through London and Never Land.
The attraction includes scenes featuring Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and other characters from the animated film. Disney currently lists the attraction as suitable for guests of any height.
Peter Pan’s Flight also features an interactive queue inside the Darling family home. Guests walk through the nursery before encountering an effect involving a guest’s shadow.

Disney says the Magic Kingdom attraction draws inspiration from the original Peter Pan’s Flight at Disneyland in California. That version opened with Disneyland in 1955.
2024 Refurbishment
The latest major announced refurbishment of Peter Pan’s Flight at Magic Kingdom took place in 2024.
The attraction closed for refurbishment on July 8, 2024. Disney later moved the expected reopening date forward. Peter Pan’s Flight reopened on August 16, nearly a week before its previously announced August 21 date.

The 2024 work included substantial changes to the Never Land Tribe scene, involving Tiger Lily, her grandmother and the surrounding setting.
Why Peter Pan’s Flight closed
Disney had not publicly explained the reason for the latest closure as of the September 22 reopening. The popular Fantasyland was down for approximately 27 hours. The September shutdown lasted from around midday Monday until Tuesday afternoon.
Peter Pan’s Flight is now operating again at Magic Kingdom after the unexpected interruption. Guests should continue to check Disney’s official park information for current attraction availability, since operating conditions can change without notice.
