New details have reportedly emerged about what Lucasfilm and showrunner Leslye Headland had planned for Star Wars: The Acolyte season 2 before the Disney+ series was canceled.

According to a new exclusive from Knight Edge Media’s Caleb Williams, plans for Season 2 included a significant time jump, Osha training under Qimir, Darth Plagueis becoming a much larger presence, Mae working with the Jedi, and an increasingly intimate relationship between Osha and Qimir.

Perhaps the most unusual alleged development involves Osha and Qimir sharing what Knight Edge describes as Star Wars’ first on-screen sexual experience — albeit through the Force rather than a conventional scene.

Knight Edge reports that a writers’ room had already been assembled for a potential second season, with a story bible covering Seasons 2 and 3 and preliminary episode outlines prepared. Full scripts reportedly were not written because Lucasfilm had not officially ordered Season 2.

These specific details have not been confirmed by Lucasfilm, Headland, or Disney, meaning they should be treated as claims attributed to Knight Edge Media’s sources rather than established fact.

However, several of the broader ideas described in the report correspond with things Headland and members of the cast previously revealed publicly about the direction of the series.

Osha Would Reportedly Become An Assassin

According to Knight Edge, Season 2 would have begun approximately one year after the events of the first season.

Osha would have spent that time training with Qimir and becoming considerably more powerful.

The proposed premiere reportedly involved Osha entering a gladiatorial arena controlled by the Hutts, where she ultimately kills a Hutt named Brigo. Her actions attract the attention of the Jedi and help set the new season’s events in motion.

Knight Edge additionally claims that the gladiatorial-arena concept was later repurposed for The Mandalorian and Grogu. That specific connection has not been independently confirmed.

Osha and Qimir would meanwhile have been carrying out assassinations for Darth Plagueis.

The Sith Lord briefly appeared during The Acolyte’s Season 1 finale, seemingly observing Osha and Qimir from the shadows. According to the new report, Plagueis would have emerged as a much more important character in Season 2, with Osha and Qimir eventually realizing the extent to which he had been manipulating them.

This general direction is supported by Headland’s previous comments.

Following the finale, Headland described Plagueis as a “signifier of things to come” and discussed the complications his existence created for Osha and Qimir under the Sith’s traditional master-and-apprentice structure.

Manny Jacinto also subsequently said that Plagueis would have had a larger role if The Acolyte had continued into a second or third season.

Knight Edge’s specific account of Plagueis’ actions therefore remains unconfirmed, but his intended importance to the show’s future was previously established by people involved with the series.

Mae And Yoda Would Have Been Connected

Season 2 reportedly would have continued Mae’s story with the Jedi following the memory wipe she experienced at the end of Season 1.

According to Knight Edge, Mae would have remained with the Jedi and eventually received training from Yoda.

She would learn to use the Force to search for Osha while developing a relationship with another of Yoda’s Padawans named Cohli.

Yoda’s involvement would have expanded upon his surprise appearance during the closing moments of The Acolyte’s finale.

While Season 1 largely dealt with characters created specifically for the series, the proposed continuation therefore appears to have placed considerably more emphasis on established Star Wars figures such as Yoda and Darth Plagueis.

Qimir And Vernestra’s Past Would Be Explored

Another major storyline reportedly involved finally explaining the history between Qimir and his former Jedi master, Vernestra Rwoh.

Knight Edge claims two flashback episodes were contemplated.

One would present the events from Qimir’s perspective, while another would revisit the same history through Vernestra’s point of view.

This also corresponds with Headland’s previous statements about unresolved material she hoped to explore in another season.

Following the finale, Headland specifically discussed the importance of Qimir and Vernestra’s history, along with Mae’s future with the Jedi and Osha’s continued development.

Exactly what happened between Qimir and Vernestra was deliberately left unresolved when the series ended.

Osha And Qimir’s Relationship Would Become More Intimate

The most attention-grabbing portion of Knight Edge’s report concerns the relationship between Osha and Qimir.

According to the outlet, Darth Plagueis eventually would have demanded that Qimir surrender Osha to him.

Qimir refuses and Plagueis then reportedly defeats Qimir in a confrontation, after which Osha rescues him and takes him to what is described as a “Force deprivation pool.”

Osha and Qimir would enter the pool together, lower their emotional defenses, and experience their consciousnesses merging through the Force.

Knight Edge describes the planned sequence as Star Wars’ first on-screen sexual experience.

It reportedly would not have depicted anything explicit or physical. Instead, the intimate Force connection between the characters would serve as the component of the scene while advancing their relationship beyond that of master and apprentice.

While that particular sequence remains unconfirmed, the romantic direction of Osha and Qimir’s relationship had previously been discussed publicly. Amandla Stenberg revealed after the Season 1 finale that Osha and Qimir were originally supposed to kiss during their final scene together.

Headland similarly described their connection as “intense, and strong, and shared, and passionate” while discussing where the relationship could go.

Jacinto later expressed his desire to see more romance in Star Wars while discussing Osha and Qimir.

The alleged Season 2 storyline therefore appears to have taken a dynamic that was already developing during the first season and made it considerably more explicit.

A Much Larger Story Was Apparently Planned

If Knight Edge’s information is accurate, The Acolyte was intended to expand considerably beyond the story audiences saw during its eight-episode first season.

Darth Plagueis would move from a cameo to a major participant. Yoda would become involved in Mae’s story. Qimir’s mysterious Jedi past would finally be explained. Osha would continue embracing the Dark Side, and her relationship with Qimir would evolve from the attraction suggested during Season 1 into a full romantic relationship.

That helps explain why The Acolyte’s finale introduced so many new elements without resolving them.

Headland clearly had additional story in mind, but Lucasfilm ultimately decided not to continue it.

Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman later explained that the decision came down to the relationship between the show’s performance and its considerable cost. Disney was satisfied with certain aspects of its performance, he said, but the audience wasn’t large enough relative to the expense to justify another season.

That decision left several major storylines unresolved, particularly the Plagueis reveal and Qimir’s history with Vernestra.

The new Knight Edge report potentially provides the most detailed look yet at how Headland intended to address those dangling threads.

There is also reason for caution. Knight Edge Media remains the source of the newly revealed plot specifics, and this should be considered an unverified rumor.

Koril in The Acolyte

Still, the overlap between the report and previous comments from Headland, Jacinto, and Stenberg gives portions of the alleged outline additional context.

Whether those ideas would have produced a stronger second season will never be known.

But if the report proves accurate, The Acolyte was clearly intended as the beginning of a much larger story involving Osha, Qimir, the Jedi, and eventually Darth Plagueis — a story that ended when Lucasfilm decided one season was enough.
