World of Warcraft has remained firmly planted on computers for more than two decades. However, a new listing out of Brazil has once again raised the possibility that Microsoft and Blizzard are finally preparing to bring Azeroth to consoles.
Brazil’s Ministry of Justice recently classified World of Warcraft: Forever, the upcoming new version of Blizzard’s massively multiplayer RPG. According to reports, the original listing included an unusual collection of platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
The listing was subsequently changed, with those consoles disappearing and the game now identified only for personal computers. Meanwhile, the ESRB currently lists World of Warcraft: Forever exclusively for Windows PC and Macintosh.
That certainly makes a clerical error the simplest explanation. At the same time, it does not mean the larger possibility of World of Warcraft coming to consoles should be dismissed.
The Brazilian Listing Could Simply Be Wrong
There is good reason to be skeptical of the Brazilian classification.
Something remarkably similar happened in 2020, when a Brazilian rating for World of Warcraft listed Xbox Series X as a platform. Blizzard subsequently explained that the console designation was a mistake.

The newly discovered listing is arguably even more suspicious. Sony’s PlayStation 3 is nearly two decades old, making its appearance alongside modern hardware an extremely improbable choice for a new release in 2026. The later removal of every console platform suggests someone may have simply checked the wrong boxes.
For now, the official evidence supports PC and Mac.
Yet two things can be true at the same time: Brazil’s listing could be completely wrong, while Microsoft and Blizzard could still be preparing World of Warcraft for consoles.
Forever Is Better Positioned for Consoles Than Ever
Even if the Brazilian listing was nothing more than a clerical error, console gamers still have reasons to remain optimistic.
World of Warcraft: Forever includes native gamepad support, something players were able to experience during BlizzCon 2026. That does not prove a console version exists, but it removes one of the most obvious obstacles to bringing the traditionally keyboard-and-mouse MMO to Xbox or PlayStation.
The case for a console release extends beyond controller support.

Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard in 2023, putting one of PC gaming’s most iconic franchises under the Xbox umbrella. A console version would give Microsoft another way to expand Warcraft beyond its traditional audience. It could also introduce millions of players to a game previously unavailable on their preferred hardware.
Blizzard has also been careful not to completely close that door. Recent comments surrounding BlizzCon reportedly stopped short of announcing console versions of Forever, Warcraft III: Reforged, or Heroes of the Storm, but likewise avoided ruling them out.
Brazil May Be Wrong — But Consoles Still Make Sense
World of Warcraft: Forever launches November 4, with Blizzard currently promoting it as a computer release.

The Brazilian listing therefore should not be treated as confirmation of an impending console port. Its bizarre collection of platforms and subsequent correction make a clerical error entirely plausible.
Native controller support and Microsoft’s ownership of Blizzard have removed some obvious barriers. With developers also refusing to rule it out, World of Warcraft has arguably never been better positioned to make the jump.
Brazil may have spoiled Microsoft’s surprise—or it may have accidentally stumbled onto something Blizzard eventually intends to do anyway.
