Disney’s Lilo & Stitch 2 may be adding another major character to its growing live-action ohana.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, better known online as DanielRPK, the upcoming sequel is reportedly casting a new female lead named Nellie.

The unconfirmed casting information describes Nellie as a 9-year-old, fast-talking girl who recently moved to Hawaii from a big city. She reportedly wastes little time becoming friends with Lilo and Stitch.

Cosmic Book News, citing Richtman and the alleged casting call, reports that production is looking at girls between 9 and 10 years old for the role.

“Nellie is bright-eyed, inquisitive, effortlessly popular and naturally cool,” the reported casting description reads. “Despite being very different from her, Nellie takes fast to befriending Lilo, is eager to learn more about her new home, and of course Experiment 626.”

For now, however, Disney has not officially announced Nellie or revealed that it is casting such a character. The information therefore remains a rumor unless and until the studio confirms it.

However, the description has already led to speculation among longtime Lilo & Stitch fans.

Could Nellie Be a Reimagined Victoria?

Some fans believe Nellie could actually be a reworked version of Victoria, a character introduced during the second season of Lilo & Stitch: The Series.

There are certainly some similarities between the two characters.

Victoria first appeared after moving to Kokaua Town and joining Lilo’s hula class. Despite Mertle attempting to convince the newcomer that Lilo was weird, Victoria befriended her and became one of Lilo’s few genuine human friends.

That basic setup bears a noticeable resemblance to the rumored description of Nellie: a new girl moves to Hawaii, meets Lilo, and quickly becomes her friend.

Still, there is currently no evidence confirming that Nellie is Victoria, and the similarity could be entirely coincidental. Nellie may simply be an original character filling a comparable role in the live-action sequel.

The possibility has gained some traction because Disney is already bringing at least one character from the animated series into the live-action sequel.

Angel Is Officially Joining the Sequel

During its D23 entertainment showcase, Disney brought Lilo actress Maia Kealoha onstage before Stitch appeared on the big screen alongside his “new pink co-star, Angel.”

Angel, also known as Experiment 624, originally debuted in Lilo & Stitch: The Series before becoming one of the franchise’s most recognizable characters outside the original movie.

Disney also confirmed that production on Lilo & Stitch 2 will begin in Hawaii later this year, with original Lilo & Stitch co-creator Chris Sanders directing. The sequel is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 26, 2028.

As That Park Place previously reported, Sanders is taking over the sequel after co-writing and co-directing Disney’s original 2002 animated movie. He has also voiced Stitch since the character’s debut.

Richtman’s latest report therefore offers an intriguing, but still unconfirmed, glimpse at what Sanders may be planning.

Nellie herself has yet to be announced by Disney, while the idea that she could be a reimagined Victoria remains purely fan speculation. Still, with Angel officially joining the live-action franchise, it would hardly be surprising to see Lilo & Stitch 2 borrow additional characters or ideas from the animated series as Lilo and Stitch’s story continues.
