Joe Rohde is more broken than the Yeti. Unlike the mechanical issues with the giant animatronic, Rohde’s problems are in his heart.
There are some things that you just don’t do. Decent people know that when a tragedy happens, it is not the time to insert political talking points into the situation. In the case of the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, there are innocent people who died. The person responsible for killing them is an eighteen year old person who also shot his grandmother. That person should be condemned in the strongest way possible. Other people don’t seem to be responsible for killing innocent people in this situation. Therefore, when you see people blame others, especially their political opponents, that is so far beyond the pale of decency that even we have to speak up. It’s wrong if people on the right do it, it’s wrong when people on the left do it.
That is why it is so disappointing that Disney Legend, Joe Rohde, famous for designing Animal Kingdom, has come out and politicized the shooting situation. Using your public relations training at Disney as some sort of barometer for determining if others’ statements demonstrate they actually care about dead children and teachers… that’s disgusting. There’s no room for it and we shouldn’t play with it semantically. It’s disgusting. I bet Nancy Pelosi cares about little nine year olds being shot by an evil person and I bet Mitch McConnell cares about little nine year olds being shot by an evil person. You know why I believe that? I believe it because you would have to have zero humanity in your soul to not care about the deaths of little kids who did absolutely nothing to deserve what happened. So when someone claims that their political opponents don’t care, that’s a moral flaw deep inside the person making that claim. If you make that sort of claim, you’d better have one heck of a statement out of the people you’re sliming that way.

We don’t do political stuff here. We try our best to stay out of it, even when Disney nearly forces us to cover it as they take on sociopolitical positions. But when a Disney Legend comes out and slimes people in a way that is just beastly, it needs to be called out. It’s not okay to say that someone lacks care for the deaths of children just because you disagree with them. I don’t care if you’ve done some kind of public relations training that gives you cover to do it.
Rohde didn’t just slime Republicans. He slimed Joe Manchin, he slimed Kristen Sinema — in essence, if a public figure doesn’t hold the same policies as Joe Rohde, he will label them as uncaring for the deaths of children. It’s utterly vile.

Joe Rohde should reach out to each person he slimed with this vile assessment and personally apologize to them. He’s more broken than the Yeti given the horrible comments he’s made.

It’s extremely unfortunate that a person of this caliber decided to chime in on this tragedy, with as much vile as he did… Joe Rohde is a legend and I respected his work as an Imagineer for Disney, but apparently the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. If the tree has a disease (and Disney certainly is infected), there will assuredly be bad apples (like Rohde and his poisoned mind).

Of the twelve articles on our front page at the moment, only two have anything even remotely to do with political details of entertainment. That’s more than usual.
When a person believes that the government has a magic button to stop suffering, they’re going to scream at anyone who opposes the pressing of that button. It doesn’t occur to them that the button might not work.
It’s as if the man who hangs a chandelier from his earlobe wants people to notice him. We see you, Joe Rohde. You are very, very virtuous.
