It’s difficult to believe but both Ms. Marvel and Obi-Wan Kenobi are still generating less online searches than Stranger Things. What makes this so peculiar is that today is the launch date for Ms. Marvel and Stranger Things has now been out for nearly three weeks. We recently saw that Stranger Things outperformed Kenobi in terms of smart television viewers in North America by about 1.5 million screens. Is itĀ stillĀ outperforming both Kenobi AND Ms. Marvel this far out from its content-release? Important to note is that Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ms. Marvel are episodic with weekly content drops; Stranger Things only has two content releases with the next not due out until July.
It will be interesting to see how all of this plays out in terms of Nielsen ratings in the coming weeks. If Kenobi’s interest levels are down to 33% of their debut-day marks according to Google search data (and they are), and Ms. Marvel is only barely beating Kenobi currently, it seems to indicate that Ms. Marvel is also not a huge ratings bonanza Disney might want to see.
We’ll have to wait to see what happens, but keep this on your radar in the continuing oddity of Disney+ subscribers going up while Disney+ content engagement seemingly goes down.
