Though there’s nothing that should concern readers about the safety of the passengers, crew or the ship, the Disney Wish’s propulsion is acting odd today.
This is a breaking news story. This story may turn out to be not as significant or it may be a major issue for The Walt Disney Company, its newest cruise ship and passengers. We will update this story as we learn more.
Theme Park Express, a YouTube channel and Twitter account we have covered in the past, is reporting that the Disney Wish cruise ship is experiencing odd events on the water during its latest journey. According to the twitter feed, TPE says that at one point ship was shaking so hard that guests were going to the balcony to see what is the matter. While we have no confirmation of any wrong or errors, this is not normal behavior out of a Disney cruise ship. Here are the posts in chronological order:
This is a video of the #DisneyWish hitting the reverse thrusters to halt our forward progress in the water a few minutes ago. The back of the ship shook really hard. Plenty of guests came out to see what was happening. @DisneyCruise pic.twitter.com/sSw9suNWVF

No announcements have been made and we are just stopped in the water 100%. At least earlier we were crawling slowly. But now we stopped hard, started moving again then stopped a second time and now we aren’t moving period. #DisneyWish @DisneyCruise

Side thrusters have been engaged. We may be trying to turn from a stop…#DisneyWish @DisneyCruise pic.twitter.com/2RLSEt8nqR

Went down to deck 4 to see if we could spot anything on the opposite side to cause a stop but nothing. Forward progress has resumed. Slowly, but resumed. #DisneyWish @DisneyCruise pic.twitter.com/J0e5GI1tCm

If the brand-new Disney Wish is experiencing navigation problems, it will be the second Disney cruise ship to have such problems in a single month. The Disney Wonder experience propulsion issues off the coast of Alaska causing it to have to skip a destination port.
Let us be very clear: at this time there are no reports of any issues which might threaten the lives or health of any passengers, cast, crew, or the boat itself on which we are reporting. Engine and propulsion issues are not in any way the same as a ship losing power or sinking. We do not expect such an event to occur and this article is specifically stating that. No person should use this article to create panic or hysteria.
Update 6:28 PM EST: The Wish has returned to its forward movement with no announcement.
Update 10:30 PM EST: New information coming is that the Disney Wish underwent tests today with its propulsion systems. However, the announcement about incoming tests was not relayed to the full ship, leading panic and concern from many of the guests. This seems to be another of those things needing to be ironed out we discussed in a previous article.
