You can find out a bit about where a company is heading by checking out their survey questions to customers. Is Disney telling us something new?

The Walt Disney Company is sending a survey to families in a private program that assists with Disney+ polling and surveys. According to two readers of That Park Place, Disney is distributing a survey through that program in regards to She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. However, the way this survey in particular works is different than any before it.

While one reader has asked that no part of their communication be made public, another has simply asked to remain anonymous. Here is part of the dialogue the anonymous contributor provided to us via email:

They have asked opinions before when a show begins, yet what was different about this, I was asked to list details about what I liked and disliked about the first episode of She-Hulk.  Moreover, with dislike, I was asked to mention if it caused an unfavorable opinion on my part, and if it was enough for me to stop watching.
In addition to She-Hulk not receiving the typical Disney announcement that it has broken some sort of viewership record — with fine print explaining a very specific set of constraints that make such an announcement possible — this survey raises eyebrows. Why would Disney be asking participants if flaws in a show are significant enough to cause them to stop watching… unless that is a phenomenon they’re already observing? Clearly this is a way for Disney to gauge who is unhappy about what and develop a metric for which demographics walk away when certain issues arise.
Of course we don’t blame either of our readers for wanting to remain anonymous. In fact, it’s wise. Were Disney to determine who is leaking their survey information, we’re pretty sure they’d be more than happy to drop the participants from the program. And frankly, we’d like to keep having this sort of information brought our way so we can figure out exactly where Disney is going with their polls.
