Professional grifter, Abigail Disney, is back at it again with an improbable effort to harm the Disney CEO while she holds almost no sway with the company.
If it were not for her last name and the wealth bequeathed to her by her family, you likely would not know very much about Abigail Disney. The political activist progeny of the Disney family is a firebrand who does quite a bit of attacking others if you’re not on the same political side as herself. That even comes down to her own family.
There’s this assumption that I just was raised on fairy dust and rainbows. My parents were conservative and very strict. And both alcoholics.
— Abigail Disney, speaking about her parents who had since passed and could not defend themselves…
On occasion, Ms. Disney will take on some cause of value. She has brought attention to cast member pay, for example. But largely, most corporate experts dismiss Ms. Disney and her attempts to slime those she disagrees with as attempts to maintain notoriety. That’s hard to do when you’ve sold off all interests in the company you want to change and when you have done nothing of great merit in terms of your own creative endeavors. And anyone who will speak poorly of their own deceased parents, in a way that others who knew them think is absurd, is someone to be watched carefully. Honoring one’s own parents seems to be something of a baseline character value. During the Brett Kavanaugh hearings, Ms. Disney was willing to go even farther in attacking her dead father with a new line that she had kept secret until that point:
I had an angry, alcoholic father. He had an inside face and an outside face.
Of course, she was making that statement to compare the Supreme Court nominee to her father, who she now wanted the world to know had something in common with a supposed rapist. What a daughter!
So it is with a bit of hesitation that we should take the latest news seriously at all. It’s in the news and we need to cover it, but just know there is little chance of any of this being successful. Abigail likes to jump into the news and make an attack… but she’s not always there to see the attack through.
Following the abject failure of Lightyear and its left-leaning agenda, Abigail Disney is going after Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek and his salary. Although she owns no serious stake in the company, she’s apparently working to convince shareholders that Chapek is being paid too much. She never did this with Iger, so pardon me if I think this is all partisanship. Chapek had wanted to moderate the company prior to a coup attempt against him by studios like Pixar. Many believe he will now return to an effort to get the corporation out of politics along with the Board of Directors. So it seems like the perfect time for someone like Abigail to grift her way into another shot in the dark at damaging Chapek and Disney leadership.
Is Chapek a perfect CEO? Definitely not. But I take efforts by organizations like Disney Walkout far more seriously than Abigail Disney. At least the other attempts to damage Chapek came from serious people — unlike Ms. Disney whose biggest accomplishment is starting “Fork Films.” And that’s not much of an accomplishment.
Am I being overly harsh about Ms. Disney and her efforts? Well, I tend to think that people who will dance on the graves of their dead parents that gave them riches most could never even dream of… those people should be kept in serious scrutiny. That’s especially true when their disparaging remarks about their parents come only when it will gain fame and a few dollars.
