Adam Driver, the actor who played Kylo Ren in Disney’s atrocious Star Wars sequel trilogy films, recently confirmed that the original plan for the character was to have him fully embrace the Dark Side instead of having a redemption arc.

During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Driver first detailed that he knew he was playin Darth Vader 2.0.
The actor relayed, “I had an overall arc that in mind that he wanted to do, which then changed, but his idea was almost the opposite journey of Vader, where Vader starts the most confident, the most committed to the Dark Side, and then by the last movie he’s the most vulnerable and weak.
“And he wanted to start it the opposite where this character was the most confused and vulnerable. And by the end of the three movies would be the most committed to the Dark Side. So I tried to keep that arc in mind, regardless if that wound up not being the journey anyway. Because it changed obviously while we were shooting.”

After being asked when it changed, Driver answered, “Well, with Rian [Johnson] he took into a different direction, but still it kind of still tracked with the character. But with the last one it changed into being about them, and the dyad, and things like that.”
“And kind of evolving into Ben Solo, that was never apart of it,” he continued. “Well, he was Ben Solo from the beginning, but it was never a version where we actually see Ben Solo when I first signed up for it.”

Driver’s comments come in the wake of a monologue on Saturday Night Live where he lampooned Star Wars saying, “I’d like people to stop coming up to me on the street saying, ‘You killed Han Solo.’ I didn’t kill Han Solo. Wokeness killed Han Solo.”
His comments are just more evidence that Lucasfilm truly had no clue what they were doing with Star Wars after they purchased Lucasfilm.
They had no real plans for a trilogy and the plans that they purchased from George Lucas they locked up in a vault never to be seen again.
