Jacqueline Schaeffer, the showrunner for Agatha All Along and the head writer on WandaVision, shared that Agatha Harkness wanted to kiss the Scarlet Witch in the final battle of WandaVision.

As reported by The Direct, Schaeffer informed SFX Magazine, “What got me the most excited was right at the end [of WandaVision], when she finally faces off with Wanda. Does she want to destroy Wanda? Does she want to be best friends with Wanda? Does she want to braid Wanda’s hair? Does she want to kiss Wanda? Does she want to go on a rampage with Wanda?”
“Yes to all, and that was fascinating to me,” she declared.

This will likely be a theme in Agatha All Along as Schaeffer commented on Joe Locke joining the show’s cast at the end of August. She told Variety, “This isn’t stepping into any Marvel project. Joe, young queer icon that he is, was joining a cast of queer icons.”
Sasheer Zamata, who plays Jennifer Kale in the series, also informed Pink News, “I do think there’s a lot of queerness in witches, and being a witch, being the ‘other’, you’re cast out by nature, and you’re pushed aside for many reasons.”
She added, “I love that the show shows so many different types of witches and so many different types of people. We have different ages, different races, different types of love being displayed. It’s really special. I think a lot of people will get a lot from it, but also I hope that queer audiences like it.”

Locke, for his part, and has made it clear that his character, Teen, is gay on a number of occasions. First, it was revealed by Rolling Stone UK’s Alastair James who shared, “In what is familiar territory for Locke, Teen identifies as gay.”
Locke then informed James, “The way it’s explored in the show is very truthful and very positive. His sexuality is just one part of the character.”

Locke would also tell Variety, “The way it’s explored in the show is very truthful and very positive. His sexuality is just one part of the character.”
He also addressed criticism levied at the depiction of his character based on the show’s trailer, “It was like, ‘Oh, why has Marvel done this campy gay stereotype?’ It really annoyed me because I was like, ‘You can’t ask for authentic casting and then be upset if you have a camp character.’”
He added, “I’m fully aware that the Marvel fandom is far less nice than the ‘Heartstopper’ fandom. There’s going to be a lot of people that just hate everything about the character and everything about what I’ve done with it, and I just have to be OK with that.”
Locke then mocked Marvel fans saying, “Marvel fans are very open with their opinions. But they’re not in a Marvel show, so—. I’m doing the one thing that they really wish they could be doing. Sorry!”

Agatha All Along stars Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness who “finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road…”
The series premieres on Disney+ on September 18 at 9:00 p.m. ET. It will debut its first two episodes.
