Ahsoka Ratings Fall to Andor Levels in Second Week

The Walt Disney Company has egg on its face as Ahsoka ratings for the third episode have now dropped to Andor levels — revealing that Samba TV was right all along.

Disney made a big to-do about Ahsoka and how great it was doing. It even managed to offer up a rare Kathleen Kennedy press release statement — only the second time she has made any public comment since Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny became a historic box office failure. Now, however, Nielsen numbers are out. And it turns out that Samba TV was right all along:

Week of August 28 – September 3, 2023

Pos, Platform, Title, Episodes, Minutes Watched (in millions)

1 Netflix / Peacock Suits 135 2,450
2 Netflix One Piece (2023) 8 1,311
3 Netflix Who Is Erin Carter? 7 1,019
4 Disney+ Bluey 140 1,012
5 Netflix Grey’s Anatomy 417 870
6 Netflix / Paramount+ NCIS 443 797
7 Netflix You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah 1 715
8 Netflix Cocomelon 22 643
9 Hulu / Netflix / Paramount+ S.W.A.T. 128 643
10 Max The Big Bang Theory 265 590

To actually even be able to see Ahsoka’s numbers, you have to check out a sub-category listing because Ahsoka’s third episode failed to make the top ten on Neilsen’s charts. That’s a huge embarrassment for Disney, for Lucasfilm, and for Kathleen Kennedy. It may also strike real fear in Dave Filoni’s ability to deliver a highly successful Thrawn movie. For whatever reason, it seems his efforts are already being met with a yawn overall.

Original Shows Created Specifically for their Platforms

1 Netflix One Piece (2023) 8 1,311
2 Netflix Who Is Erin Carter? 7 1,019
3 Netflix The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On 20 558
4 Prime Video The Wheel Of Time 11 515
5 Disney+ Ahsoka 3 487
6 Hulu Only Murders in the Building 25 460
7 Netflix Ragnarok 18 444
8 Netflix The Lincoln Lawyer 20 402
9 Netflix Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones 4 366
10 Paramount+ Special Ops: Lioness 8 363

Whatever you may think of Ahsoka as a show, the ratings are not what Lucasfilm needs to see. Remember that The Mandalorian, in its first two seasons, managed to regularly break the billion minutes watched mark. That’s no longer happening for Star Wars, and it hasn’t in a very long time.

I remember a person who ran to D+ to hide the failures movie numbers show. Now D+ isn’t such a great place to hide the failure that Lucasfilm has become. But I offer another path Disney / Lucasfilm one where you grow a pair of coin sacks and you commit to competition with competitors. I hope you contact me because if Star Wars was a weapon to fight the other studios I’d deploy it like a WMD and wipe them all out.
