You likely have heard of the YouTube channel Overlord DVD and the underground lair with the infamous “Doomcock”. If you haven’t heard of it before, just know that you’ve probably heard news and rumors that were revealed over there first. Some consider “Doomcock” to be a quirky character, some consider him to be a leader in a cultural battle against Star Wars and Star Trek attacks, and some consider the show to just be a lot of fantastic fun. Whatever your opinion of a YouTube show that often garners hundreds of thousands of viewers per show, we wanted to start a conversation with the man behind the mask, and find out exactly what makes Overlord DVD a channel that many flock to for their entertainment news, reviews, and rumors. Why do some channels take off while others never do?
Here’s our interview with the man behind Overlord DVD and “Doomcock”:
That Park Place: First of all, welcome to this interview, and thanks for being willing to participate. I imagine you’re quite busy, so we’re glad to fit this into your schedule. Why don’t we start by just asking how it is that you found your start at YouTube?
Doomcock: I got started on YouTube when I saw the fourth episode of the first season of Star Trek Discovery. I was quietly minding my own business at my base at the center of the Earth, plotting my revenge on humanity and my invasion of the surface world, when I saw what these idiots had done to Star Trek, completely perverting everything about it and violating Star Trek canon right and left. At that point, I just couldn’t stay silent. Despite losing the advantage of surprise vis a vis my invasion of the surface world, I decided that our culture was under attack, and that the threat was so dire I had to enter the fray ahead of time. Thus I posted a video review of the first four episodes of STD, with no expectation that anyone would notice. I knew nothing about YouTube, I had no contacts there, but I had to try to reach out, to see if there was any intelligent life left out there. Because the woke media was hailing this thing, the worst television show ever made, as something wonderful, when it truth STD is the single worst television series ever made, PERIOD. The rest is history, and my plans to conquer the world continue unabated.
When you first started, your channel was pulling just a few thousand views per video. Yet here we are only several years later and you often are picking up six-figure viewership totals. What is it that makes people instantly tune into what you’re doing?
I suspect that my channel has grown because of my passion and honesty. I tell it like it is, and I speak of things that are of concern to all fans of pop culture. The mission of my YouTube channel, youtube.com/overlorddvd, is to save pop culture, to expose the agenda of those who are destroying our geek mythologies in order to further their own political aims. It is my opinion, after years fighting these battles, that these SJWs in Hollywood and beyond view the entirety of Western Civilization as problematic, as irredeemable and corrupt, and thus they seek to attack our civilization by any means possible, including toppling beloved narratives like Star Wars and Star Trek, and degrading our heroes like Luke Skywalker, Doctor Who, and Captain Kirk. Pop culture is one of the last safe havens for people of all political persuasions to band together and enjoy each other. It’s too important to allow it to be destroyed.
In your time becoming an icon for rumors and leaks out of Hollywood, specifically with Star Wars and Star Trek, who have been some of the helpful people from YouTube that have shown you some kindness behind the scenes? Anyone in particular stand out?
I would say that the good people at Midnight’s Edge, Tom, Andre, Captain Robb “Robot Shlomo” and MechaRandom, really were the first to notice me at the start. It was a very strange sensation to be watching Midnight’s Edge late at night on my couch, and suddenly hearing Robb quoting me and giving me a shout-out. I’ll always love these guys for noticing me and helping me when I was just starting out. Beyond that, there have been some wonderful people behind the scenes at various shows like The Expanse who have sent me some very kind gifts and souvenirs. I’ve met some incredible people, including my friends Kelvington and Gary Ambrosia, both of whom have helped me incredibly much. And of course I’ve been very happy to meet WDWPro. I’ve admired his work for quite some time, and I’m very happy to be helping all of you at thatparkplace.com!
Random question: You have a sidekick on your show named “Harvey”. On the Weird Al show from the eighties and nineties, he also had a sidekick named “Harvey”. Any connection there?
No, no relation…I’ve never seen that show. By the way, I call him Harvey because his actual name sounds a bit like that, but it isn’t pronounceable by human tongues.

You do quite a bit of material on movies that have divided fanbases, and sometimes have tanked their franchises. In your opinion, which movie was worse though… Ghostbusters 2016 or The Last Jedi?
Ghostbusters 2016 is worse in and of itself, as it is a movie absolutely devoid of anything worthwhile whatsoever. It doesn’t have one laugh in its entire running length. It’s utter garbage, and watching it felt like an eternity. On the other hand, The Last Jedi did far more damage to pop culture, it degraded and destroyed Luke Skywalker, it was a terrible piece of cultural vandalism the ramifications of which are still being felt today. BUT as a standalone movie, it at least had a few moments and images that were quite good, and so I have to say, Ghostbusters 2016, ground zero of the woke bomb that detonated and destroyed Hollywood, was worse, but The Last Jedi actually did more damage.
Speaking of bad movies, let’s flip the switch and ask the opposite. If those movies are so terrible, there must be some awesome movies you love. What are Doomcock’s personal top three?
My Top 3 movies of all time? That is a VERY tough call…there are too many towering works of genius out there to have a definitive list, but the 3 movies that most immediately come to mind are Casablanca, Blade Runner, and Lawrence of Arabia. Those are perfect films in very possible way. (And while Citizen Kane was revolutionary and I do admire it, it doesn’t compare to these gems!)
You know, when I watch your channel, I can’t help but get some Space Ghost Coast to Coast vibes…
Oh, Space Ghost Coast to Coast was definitely an influence on my YouTube channel, along with MST3K, late night local horror hosts…all these aesthetics are very pleasing to me! In the video I just released, I finally showed a new denizen of Xanadoom, the Skull of Calderon, an enemy I vanquished years ago in the Dimension Wars, whose skull I keep alive and imprisoned with mad science and magic. He hates my guts and I’d hate his guts if he had any guts. But he’s just a skull. In 2022, you’re going to see much more of my hidden base, many more denizens of that lair, and a lot of new shows and surprises!
Several months ago, you graced the masses with a musical tribute to the awfulness of modern Star Wars. Can fans of the Overlord DVD channel expect to hear any more songs in the future?
Absolutely! I regularly write and perform song parodies on my livestream Friday Night Frolics, and I have some that I’m prepared to share in the near future, including a song by Hank Hill called “Propane in the Tank”.

So more songs are on the way from the center of the earth, eh? If that’s the case, any duets on the horizon? If you could pick any YouTuber to join you for a song, who is singing by your side?
Hmm…that’s a tough question! Probably a woman…being a toxic male supervillain, I get along best with women. Maybe Maria with Tea and Telly, or Merry Mayhem, both of whom are really awesome! But it’s hard to sing with people on YouTube, because of latency problems that have you singing out of sync! But I sure would love to be able to sing with some of these lovely ladies!
I bet you have a diverse musical taste based on your parodies. What playlist might you be listening to when you decide to invade the earth?
God! That’s really really tough, as I have a VERY eclectic bunch of songs on my iPod, everything from Beatles and Steely Dan, to Frank Sinatra, the soundtrack to Doctor Dolittle (the original), country songs by Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, 80’s New Wave hits like Safety Dance, She Blinded Me With Science, Rimsey Korsakov’s Scheherazade, musicals like Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, Jesus Christ Superstar, weird novelty hits, opera…everything but rap and hip hop. I hate that shit. In fact, I always spell rap with a silent “c”. Think about it. ;)
Back to movies… which film do you think was the turning point where studios turned against their own fans?
Ghostbusters 2016 was ground zero for the Woke Bomb that turned Hollywood into a wasteland of hacks and virtue signalers who started insulting fans who called them out for their shoddy products. It’s amazing that these idiots forgot that we fans are the CUSTOMERS for their products, and it is perfectly valid for customers to complain about defective merchandise. And defective is exactly the word I’d use for Hollywood’s output since 2016. But I am fighting to turn the tide.
We’ve talked a lot about problems, bad movies, and studios going against their own consumers. But what about fixes? What about solutions? If Doomcock were in charge of some of these studios, how would you go about fixing your perceived problems there?
If I were in charge of Star Wars and Star Trek, I would return to the basics. First and foremost, tell good stories with strong characters. That’s absolutely vital. Set up conflicts, resolve those conflicts without corrupting the characters or the canon of what came before. Honor the style and content that came before. Don’t trash the work of Gene Roddenberry or George Lucas, but work WITHIN the universe they created to tell compelling stories that expand upon the themes of previous installments, while taking the franchise in new directions consistent with those themes. But above all, honor the fans and the universe you’re playing in, and tell good solid stories that respect what came before.
So a theory I have is that Sonic the Hedgehog was the first movie that reminded the studios they could compromise with fans for great financial success. They didn’t have to be at war with their own consumers. It’s just too bad that it was the last major film before the pandemic shut down theaters.
Sonic was a win for fans. They listened to us, and as a result they succeeded. Same thing with the Snyder Cut, with the new Dune, and especially with Ghostbusters Afterlife and Cobra Kai. Time and time again, studios are learning the lessons of Business 101: Give customers what they want, and you will prosper. But get woke, go broke. It’s pretty simple, and finally Hollywood is starting to wake up from their woke orgy and get back to the business of making money.

Okay, rapid-fire time…
Thoughts on Galaxy’s Edge at the Disney Parks?
I haven’t been there, and wouldn’t waste my time going. I’m not interested in a Star Wars theme park that doesn’t have any Star Wars in it. Mama Doomcock didn’t raise no dummies!
Most important question of the day: Kirk or Picard?
Kirk. Kirk is the greatest starship captain in history. Even before Patrick Stewart publicly soiled himself in Star Trek Picard, Kirk was superior. But now that Kurtzman completely humiliated Picard and fans in Star Trek Pukehard, I can’t even bear to look at Picard anymore. These are the wages of woke.
Who is cuter, Baby Yoda or Baby Groot?
I think Baby Groot was cuter! Guardians of the Galaxy is my all-time favorite Marvel movie! It was perfection, and every time I watch it I have laughed and cried. It’s a truly perfect film.
I’m a big fan of Guardians of the Galaxy, too. I just hate that Bautista has to be so vile online.
So we need to wrap this up fairly soon. I guess we need to ask what everyone is really wanting to know, especially after the release of the latest Spider-Man movie. When will the world know the true identity of Doomcock and will we ever get to see the man behind the mask?
Only time will tell if I reveal myself to the world. I have said at a million subscribers I would have a face reveal, but I doubt that will happen, so I’m not worried! ha ha!
Well hopefully you’ll hit that million so you’re not permanently like Master Chief in Halo. Finally, let’s go out on a bang. Tell the readers what it is Doomcock and Overlord DVD are going to be up to going forward. Plug the channel!
I am about to reveal new sections of my base that no one has ever seen, along with a number of other inhabitants of my center of the Earth base just like the Skull of Calderon! It’s going to be a wild ride, and I’m also going to be unveiling some new shows in 2022, so get ready…my conquest of the Earth is NIGH! Thanks WDWPro for giving me this opportunity to speak, and hail to thatparkplace.com, a hell of a site for news!
Doomcock, it’s been a pleasure. You’re welcome to sit down for an interview any time with us, and we wish you great success with views and entertainment leaks ahead!
Alright, that’s the interview. We hope you enjoyed! We’ll also be looking for more opportunities for interviews with YouTube channels outside what might be considered the “mainstream media” or “access media” types. Many times, these channels are the source for the biggest leaks and reveals, doing yeoman’s work for the fans… and often they’re not credited with what they do for consumers getting a chance to voice their opinions. So stick around, hopefully we’ll get to do more of these in the future.
Thanks again to Overlord DVD / Doomcock, and we wish the channel all the very best in 2022!
